Sunrise Shack in Waikiki is a sunny just by the beach, feel-good stop for smoothie and açaí bowl lovers and great coffee too. After a good surf or a water day it is good on the highway side.

Vibe & service The cheerful yellow shack and friendly staff make you feel welcome. Plenty of reviews say staff “gave me lots of recommendations” and even added a free topping.

Food & drinks Bowls like the Blue Dream or Monkey Bowl are tasty and use fresh ingredients “everything was super tasty and fresh”. Bullet coffee is a crowd favorite, though a few found it a bit light on flavor.

Portions & price Small serving sizes around \

12–\\

15 for a bowl can feel pricey. Some thought it was the “best bowl in Waikiki,” while others felt the portion didn’t match the cost

Setting & extras It’s grab‑and‑go only-no indoor seating-so most take their bowls to the beach. Decor is bright and Instagram-worthy, with comfy takeaway vibes.

My take:

I pop in early before hitting the beach—grab a Monkey or Blue Dream bowl and walk down to the sand. The bowls are fresh, colorful, and energizing. Yes, seating’s limited and it’s a little spendy, but the sunny vibe and quality make it worth it—especially for a bright, healthy pick‑me‑up.

Quick tips:

Visit early (opens around 6 AM) to beat the crowd (honolulumagazine.com). Bring cash or card; grab a takeout and enjoy it by the beach. Try the bullet coffee - it gives a smooth, clean energy boost.

Overall, Sunrise Shack Waikiki is a happy island stop - a bit indulgent, but full of...

Honestly just go anywhere else. It will be better and cost less... Vintage coffee is around the corner and great so it’s not even worth it for convenience to go to this place.

This is the only place I found that made a bad açai bowl on the island. I had the tropical and I couldn’t tell what the main base was supposed to be flavour wise reminded me of those frozen orange juice cans from the grocery store. I had two bites then ate the granola and threw it out. Girlfriend had the blue one and was equally unimpressed.

A few things went wrong on this order even before that honestly started my day off the wrong way. -the cups and lids they use for our coffees leak even after trying new cups (like leaked a lot. Needed to wrap one cup in napkins to stop the dripping). Bullet coffee didn’t leak thankfully. -They forgot to make our order and when asked about it told us that it was in process even though the person making the bowls had stopped working on bowls because all orders were complete. Luckily the second time we asked (15min later..) the person in the back overheard and spoke up that she actually had no active orders.. -Açai bowls were literally melting and dripping because they weren’t made thick/cold enough -After 45min of this BS we finally get our bowls and they give us these two coupons for $2 off of açai bowls which I returned after trying and being unable to eat ones we eventually got. -Another note the pictures of the bowls on their social media look pretty and cute what we got was a lazy dog pile of...

My doctor recommended me this place as the place that has the best açaí bowl in Waikiki. I was so excited to come and tried it knowing that it’s just two minutes away from my hotel. I went there, asked some questions to the staff but by the way she answered my questions, I feel like she was not so friendly nor welcoming. Regardless, I purchased it anyway. The açaí was good, but I think they put some frozen bananas mixed in the açaí bowl. For those of you who likes frozen banana, you will enjoy it. But frozen banana it’s not my favorite. If I’ve known about it, I’ll order something else.

Why 5 stars? I wrote this to the review that they had on my online payment and the staff responded to me and handled it really well. I wasn’t expecting that the staff would go above and beyond in response to my opinion. I can see that they are serious about making sure they offer the best quality and costumer service in at their place. I’m sure the other things would taste amazing in this place. They have lots of good reviews. I just happened to have my personal taste about the açaí bowl.

I love the sunny decorations that they have. It’s unique, cheery, bright and the atmosphere is very welcoming. My daughter loves the rainbow painting on their wall and enjoyed sitting at their bench while enjoying the yummy treats they have. We’ll give other bowls or smoothie a try once we go back...
