P.F. Chang's — Restaurant in Honolulu

Came for dinner on Saturday night, it wasn’t terribly busy. Plate of orange chicken and fried rice came out fully cold to the touch. Literally chilled. Server said she would have the plate remade. After she asked if reheated was ok, or if I preferred remade. While waiting to send it back, I tried the fried rice and realized it wasn’t to my liking. So I asked that while it was being remade if we could have it switched to white rice. Server said no problem. I Waited, plate came back a good while later. Chicken was rubbery, plate was dirty along the edge on half the plate from where fried rice had been scraped off and remnants of fried rice remained under the white rice. I advised the server I did not think this plate was freshly remade. Showed her the egg and fried rice remnants in the white rice. She advised she would make it right. She left, and came back a few minutes later. She advised she saw the old plate still in its entirety and this was a fresh plate, nothing more they could do. So my dinner was rubbery orange chicken, white rice mixed with remnants of fried rice all on a dirty plate. Not quite the experience I was expecting. I still don’t think the plate was remade, but even if it was… knowing the orange chicken didn’t taste well, and that it had sat again while she went the second time to check on the plate… server should have asked if I wanted something else instead (in my opinion). We had a 5:00pm dinner reservation for 5. We were celebrating a birthday. We arrived at 4:58 and was told our table would take a few minutes to prepare. We waited 10 minutes which was fine and the hostess said our table was ready to follow her. She turned her body and stepped 3 feet to a table that was set up in a doorway at the entrance to the restaurant. We found it odd as the restaurant was empty. Not very comfortable sitting in a doorway. So we asked about the booth that we reserved in our reservation and she said ok but we would have to wait another 20 minutes for a booth. We said ok and took a seat at the bar. A friendly bartender asked how we were doing and we asked about the happy hour cocktails. He acted surprised and said they did not have a happy hour. He asked another bartender if they had a happy hour and she said no. I told them that the website posted happy hour at their location from 4:00 - 6:00pm. They both laughed and said no. Just then our booth was ready and we were escorted upstairs. We were the only table seated upstairs. There were no other patrons. I showed the “Happy hour” post and menu items to our family and friends seated at our table ( which said happy hour will end at 6:00pm) but the staff said no. No explanation. Just no. Must say the manager Chad is outstanding. He is super friendly and accommodating. 5 stars for Chad. Ordered about 10 items for takeout and Chad stood out in front of Starbucks to hand the bags to us as we drove by. Wow, thanks Chad! Came back yesterday with a group to try out more dishes. Food is okay, sea bass and duck 5 stars Sushi, green beans and poke 4 stars Mahi better and not as over cooked today. Calamari, Lettuce wraps were fine too. 3 stars Chinese deep fried food is not crunchy like it should be, soggy and dough like after sauce is poured on. Ribs are better this time but still dry 2 stars. No flavour fried rice and soggy soup wontons 1 star. Waste of food Make sure to ask for your smoothie or drinks to be well blended. Chunky ice gets stick to straw otherwise. Ask server to wash out your souvenir cups at the end. Chris returned 4 cups back to us so no sticky mess. Bonus! Desserts are a bit too sweet, we ordered 4 different icecream sandwiches and majority enjoyed the pineapple coconut flavour. Caramel sandwhich had a bitter aftertaste and no salt flavor.
