Sabb Thai — Restaurant in Honolulu

Updated 3/2025: I ate here about a year ago. I am happy that the food is as good as it was before. This time I had a small papaya salad that the owner made for me because I did not want the full order. She was very happy to accomodate my request. I also ordered the red curry with tofu. The curry was medium spice and not overly sweet like I've had at other Thai restaurants. Wonderful mix of sweet and savory. Also incuded was a bowl of brown rice. Excellent and still highly recommended!

The food at Sabb Thai is very good. The prices are on par for the quality and portion size. Got to talk story with the owner. Very pleasant and friendly.

The location is becoming more typical of many Honolulu locations with lots of rubbish and homeless around. Unfortunately the curb appeal turned me off for several years as I walked by this restaurant. I was pleasantly surprised at how comfortable and homey the inside of the restaurant is.

*Update: it seems like this place is going a bit downhill because last night I ordered pineapple fried rice. First let me say, using canned pineapple in Hawaii is diabolical. And where were the red bell peppers as described on the menu?? Also, the four slivers of carrot is crazy cheap. this was the most basic fried rice I've ever had and not in a good way.

This cute corner-style restaurant charms with its inviting ambiance and attentive service. The staff makes you feel welcome and well-cared-for, adding to the cozy, enjoyable vibe. While the menu holds promise, I found the chicken curry a bit underwhelming for my taste due to the mixture of light and dark meat. The flavor was amazing, but I didn't enjoy the meat.
