One more of the bars in Hawaii that charge an excessive price for food and think they give you the best service when they don't. We had ordered two beers, normal, typical Hawaiian ones, and instead of serving them in glass glasses, like everyone else there, they put them in plastic glasses. Even so, we were clear, why are we going to return them... seeing the menu, we asked the waiter a question about what difference there was between one dish and another that we didn't understand very well, and he answered that the difference was that one dish was potatoes. fries and the other nachos, so we decided to order the nachos... well, when the plate arrived it was fries with all the nachos. I thought it had been a mistake but I called the waiter to tell him that he had told me they were nachos and they had given me fries. The waiter did not apologize at all, and although he realized that he had made a mistake when explaining the difference and we had ordered something thinking it was something else, the only thing he told me was that they were not tortilla nachos, but rather French fries with nachos... still, we laughed at it, and decided to keep it even though it was not what we had ordered (€18 by the way) plus taxes of course. Well, with all this, we realized that we did not have cutlery to eat the fries, which came with all kinds of sauce and meat (like nachos) and we asked them to bring us forks, please. We are two people, and they only brought us one piece of cutlery, to which my partner got up normally, and asked the waiter to give him another fork please, the waiter was amazed and said "another one?", and my partner said Yes, we are two people, since I didn't have one at that time, after a while, he brought him the other fork... (and the cold food of course). The time to pay arrived and we had not asked for the bill, but the waiter brought it to us and stayed there for us to pay, (I might have ordered another drink or something, but it seems that he assumed not), when you pay, They tell you that it is normal for clients to leave between 15-20% of the bill in tips, depending on the service (something that the tip is not mandatory, if not, a recommendation) and of course, it is never mandatory, it is something that each person leaves or does not want, and if it is mandatory, they must specify it and not recommend it. Well, because of all this bad service, I didn't want to leave a tip, and instead of worrying about the reason, the waiter got upset and automatically, with very bad manners, said, "No tip?" And he turned to charge the next table. It's pathetic that they treat customers like this when in reality we left $63, which I think is enough for this bar, I don't have to spend $70 or $80, it's my money and no one can force me to tip if I...
Read moreVery poor experience here. Bar staff and waitress quite rude.
Issues we experienced:
1.) No blender, so cocktails we ordered were quite average 2.) Next drink, asked for a spirit, didn't have it...no problem, then asked if they have apple juice to have with Fireball, was told that "this is an adult bar, we serve adult drinks". A bit of banter is fine, but if you've made no effort to build any rapport with a customer it just comes off as rude. 3.)Ordered fries, from the QR code that the bartender literally pointed to. When asking the bartender if I would need to pick them up from somewhere, was told I shouldn't have bought them on the app as this was just for take-out and I should have ordered through the bartender. Portion size was ridiculously small given paying USD$11 for fries. 4.) Asked for a half scotch and coke as the first one was very strong as glass was overfilled with ice. There was more scotch than coke. Received bill and was charged a full shot of scotch, despite only getting a half shot. Was told in the US that they don't do half shots (yet bartender never said anything when we ordered). To their credit they took it off the bill, but was told I should know how US bars work (I come from Australia) and that they will always charge a full shot.....so why not communicate that upfront so we could choose what to do. Honolulu is full of tourists. A little bit of communication goes a long way. Bartender also said "oh, why ruin scotch with coke in it" 5.) Front door staff were good, told them we just wanted to have a drink. Asked a waitress on the way do we just keep going around here (couldn't see bar when we were walking in as blocked by a wall). Waitress scoffed and said "you need to check in with the front desk" I said we were just having a drink and were told to go to the bar, she just pointed and said "go that way then" rather rudely.
Like, you work for tips. How hard is it to be courteous to customers. The venue is great otherwise. Got great sports screens, but was really put off...
Read moreMy husband and I recently had one of the worst dining experiences we’ve ever encountered at Skybox in Wikki. From start to finish, it was unprofessional, unsanitary, and frankly, appalling.
We were served our meals 20 minutes apart, which made it impossible to enjoy our dinner together. While waiting, we had a clear view of the kitchen and to our shock, we witnessed the cooks eating food while preparing meals for customers. Not only is this highly unprofessional, but it’s also a direct violation of ServSafe food safety standards, which prohibit eating, drinking, or smoking in food preparation areas due to the risk of contamination (as outlined in the FDA Food Code 2-401.11).
When we asked to speak with the manager to express our concerns, instead of acknowledging the unacceptable delay and food safety violations, he tried to brush it off with a weak excuse: that my husband’s food was “extremely early,” not that mine was late. That explanation is not only illogical but also completely dismissive of the dining experience we were supposed to have together.
As a token gesture, they offered a $7 discount, which frankly doesn’t even begin to address the seriousness of the food handling issues or the service failure.
In short, this was a horrible experience. We will never return and urge others to think twice before dining here especially if you care about timely service, food safety, or basic...
