Day Trip to Hood River w/ a Lavender Farm

This place is such a hidden gem! First off, it’s a family-owned ice cream shop, and you can really feel the difference—they care about quality more than just making profits. The whole vibe is super friendly and down-to-earth. One thing to keep in mind: they’re cash only, so make sure to bring some with you. If you forget, no worries—they actually let you mail in a check later, which is such a rare and thoughtful touch these days. They’ve also got private parking in the back, which makes life so much easier, and there’s even a restroom for customers. Families will love this place because there’s a small play area and a little treehouse where kids can have fun while you relax with your ice cream. Now for the ice cream. Seriously, it’s the best ice cream you’ll find around here. They don’t have a huge menu, but every flavor they do offer is top-notch. I tried the pista almond and it was incredible—creamy, flavorful, and just the right amount of sweetness. You can tell they put a lot of love into making it. All in all, this is the kind of spot you’ll want to keep coming back to. Great ice cream, family-friendly atmosphere, and people who genuinely care about what they’re serving. Highly recommend stopping by!

Obviously the employees or friends are doing the reviews. I've never wanted to dump icecream in my life. This was a first. It DOES NOT TASTE GOOD. THE pistachio did not taste like pistachio but had a weird metallic taste. The salted caramel tasted fruity! The cookie jar flavor had cookies in it that were STALE and blah! And to top it off, we paid $7 for a double that was less icecream than the KIDS size the kids behind us got. I would have taken it back but we drove away and parking in this town is ridiculous. I dumped it. Their store bought waffle cones have so much glue on them you can't eat the cone or you get mouth full of paper. NEVER AGAIN. DON'T WASTE YOUR HARD EARNED MONEY on a place that the reviews are obviously rigged at.

I’ve been coming to Mikes for over 10 years, and have always had an amazing experience. Today was the exception. I hate to write negative review for small businesses (esp as a small biz owner). I always come and buy the buckets of ice cream when i stop into mikes. After today I will never come back.

The experience: drove 2 hours to bring my family for ice cream and to take home 2 buckets of ice cream. Walked in, asked for the buckets, was told we can’t serve you because no dogs allowed. It’s 91 degrees outside and I’m not going to leave my dog in the car. I asked to buy the ice cream and was turned down and told “sorry new policy no dogs”. The kids in the store were rude about it. No one else was in the store.

Pro’s: good ice cream.

Cons: not family or dog friendly. I won’t come back.

Take the review as it is. Lost a life time customer....

We were walking around Hood River and decided to stop here for ice cream. This place has a great selection of ice cream with some unique flavors. I love coffee ice cream and I appreciate that they had four different coffee flavors on their menu! Also, THIS ICE CREAM SHOP IS CASH ONLY. They do have a sign out that says they will still serve you and you can mail them a check later if you don't have cash and I wonder if anyone has ever actually done that? It is cool that they will serve you regardless. There really isn't much room to sit inside the shop but they have a very large patio with a decent number of tables. It was a nice day out, so I did not mind being outside. If you are walking around Hood River, OR I would absolutely recommend stopping here for a...
