Angels Italian Restaurant is located adjacent to the Visitor's Center on the Central Avenue Strip downtown Hot Springs, Arkansas. It's small and quaint with authentic Italian recipes. Being a small family owned business, they elected to close their doors, sometime during Covid, and recently reopened February of this year. If you're into authentic cuisine, this is your speed. They lost the majority of their original staff while closed and only have 2 original employees (plus the owner) currently on staff. Unfortunately, the effects of that seem to have cost them a 🌟 in this review. The wait staff was friendly but slow to attend to our needs or requests. I'd think this issue could be resolved with training and a little more attention to detail. My table ordered garlic bread, seafood pizza, carrot cake, and tiramisu. The wines have always been the best there, but no wine this trip. Every time visiting Angels, it's always easy to strike up a chat with other patrons traveling from various states and countries 😊. The garlic bread is fresh and warm, escorted by tiny glass jugs of oil and vinegar each. The garlic bread is like that old Pringles' saying, "betcha can't eat just one" 😆. The seafood pizza had a thin, crisp crust with alfredo sauce, medley toppings of your choice, and loaded with shrimp and crab meat 😋. The wood burning oven it was heated in is pictured. The desserts were just as good. I prefer my carrot cake topped with nuts, though. They also offer outdoor seating for those times of the day when the weather is just right for it. When visiting Hot Springs, stop by Angels and take your time there tasting 🍽

Honestly really not worth the price. The restaurant looked gorgeous inside and out, and so while we were in Hot Springs for a weekend, we figured we would give it a try. We were wrong to think that. We were hoping for upscale, great tasting food, but what we got did not reflect the decor. In the words of Gordon Ramsey, "I get nervous when chefs start decorating the plate with parsley." You should listen to him. My pasta was incredibly bland, and the sauce and meat did unfortunately not make it any more flavorful, as it was also pretty bland. I'll give them credit for their desserts as their tiramisu was delicious, but the entrees themselves were incredibly lackluster, but not terrible to where it's inedible. Just really not worth over $20.

Fantastic italian place with comfy upscale feel. We had some nice wine and the house bread was a great start. The olive tampenade was a wonderful addition to spread on that house bread. We had a small pizza that was loaded with cheese! Also had the Penne with Vodka Sauce and the sausage was the right level of heat and so flavorful. And the Veal piccata with a creamy risotto and zucchini and squash covered in ricotta was so good. This place was a great find after being disappointed with another option up the hill. I highly recommend!

The short of it: Do yourself a favor and do not waste your time or money dining here. It was a terrible experience from the beginning to the end! I wish I could give it a zero rating! The details: We were greeted by the girl who ended up waiting on us. As she took our order we found out it was her 2nd day. Obviously she was not well trained. I entered the restaurant and asked for a table for two. Note: They were not busy. Her response, "I don't know if we can. We only have 2 waitresses today. I should have walked out at this point but my friend wanted to eat at Angel's. I looked around and saw at least two tables that could accommodate us. They just needed cleaned off. I pointed out the tables and she agreed to clear one and seat us. We ordered water and the glasses weren't getting refilled unless we asked. Then I asked if she could put a pitcher of water on the table. Her response, "I will have to ask. I don't know if it is allowed." She never came back with a pitcher of water or an answer to the question. We asked another waitress who came on duty in the middle of our meal and she got us a pitcher of water. We ordered Calimari and as I took a bite it was refrigerator cold in the middle. We sent it back and they took it off our ticket. Later the owner told me all their food comes out hot from the kitchen and implied the waitress didn't bring it out while still hot. Really? It was COLD in the middle. Each of our meals had a side salad. My crab cakes came to the table with no salad and my friend's lasagna was not served, neither was her salad. I pointed out the no salad issue to the waitress. She disappeared for quite some time as my crab caked sat and got cold. She came back with two salads and stated she forgot to make them. Then she went to retrieve the meat lasagna, which was luke warm and was nearly meatless. By that time my crab cakes were cold because they were lukewarm when they were served. The salad dressings were not good and we ordered different dressings on the side trying to find one we liked with no luck. (Later we ran into a couple who was in the restaurant at the same time. They only had salads and confirmed they didn't like the dressing. The women had dressing in her purse and ended up using that.) Because our entrees were cold, I asked to speak to the owner again. I had asked once before but she didn't come to our table. She showed but cleaned off the table next to us rather than giving us her undivided attention as we expressed our issues with the meal. (There was no one waiting to be seated.) She stated that their food always leaves the kitchen hot. (DENIAL!) She stated the waitress was new and she appreciated our feedback so she can address the issues with the waitress. (It didn't seem like the waitress had even the basic training. Remember our greeting?) Then she said, "At least the food tastes good because we make it here." (It didn't taste good to us so that's a matter of opinion.) Then she said, "The Calimari has been removed from your bill". She walked away. OMG! We believe in being kind and dealing with things in the kindest way possible, which we did. But this is the worst restaurant experience I have ever had. For the remaining days of my vacation when other travelers asked for suggestions I told them to stay away from Angel's. I didn't want others to have a bad experience on...

Went here expecting some good food for the price it is off the main drag in hot springs Arkansas down town. Well needless to say the food was sub par and by a lot. My bill came out to just under 85$ and had the simpler plate as a appetizer had an assortments of meats olives tomatoes and cheese on it with the table served bread. Olives were not pitted so yea that was a learning experience for my guest as they almost broke a tooth. Over all on that plate it was ok for the money but would look at others. Then got the main course which was tri color tortellini with a rose vodka sauce then a peice of Vill as a protein. They charged me 10$ for the small thin peice of vill which was a shocker because it was overly thin and not much flavor also my pasta was beyond the point of no return of spice and vodka. The taste profile I was expecting was a light cream with a tomato basil with a light red pepper under notes with the light flavor of spice the vodka adds as it was all cooked off. Well got a unbalanced unbearable plate of food that was un edible at least to me. The heart burn you may get from here is a forsure thing. Also my guest that I ate with the meal they had was the chicken alfredo it was ok as far as first looks. Then after looking at it the sauce looked like it was out of a jar the chicken that was supposed to be grilled was from a plastic bag pre cut and grilled like they were from sysco. That dish was ok as far as price this one was 15$ the drinks were out of cans not a tap which were different. I know they use more cans over in the pond for sodas in some areas but to me this was a bit weird but went with he ambiance they were trying to achieve. The best part about this meal was the ambiance it was very nice dark great for a date night if you want to just look at other peoples food before you order to see what you get first. The lighting makes it a very relaxed feel great for a meeting date or just to unwind some the music that was playing was ok did not really care about. I am giving this place a 2 out of 5 star because the price is not good for what you get defensively not 85$ worth maybe 50 max including tip. So if you go here beware but enjoy and make sure you look at portions and ask others about it because apparently they have 2 chefs and they do not have the same standards or measuring...

It's unfortunate to have to post this subpar rating; especially having read so many positive ones, but hopefully it'll help mgmt. towards mitigating such oversight from occurring again to someone else.

We visited Hot Springs, AK for our Spring Break this year. Looking for a place to dine for our family afrer a long roadtrip from KY, we walked to this restaurant, which was maybe 50 yds from our hotel. We walked to the front door and asked about seating availability. Mind you, we had realistic expectations if seated, as it was Sunday, 8:20-8:30p, and they close at 9p per Google. The cook/chef (visible from outside window in his dough prepping area) told us they were no longer sitting folks due to the time and closing time being so near. We thought it reasonable. Wanting at that point nothing more than a pizza to feed our 6 and 9 yr olds, we graciously asked 2 mins later if we could at least put in a to-go order to bring back to the room (time was precisely 8:32p...I looked at my watch). Chef/cook told us they could not accommodate such. They didn't close for another 28 mins, and couldn't even offer to prep SOMETHING to-go? The gentleman was very short and borderline rude. I understand dining-in sitting deadlines, but if you're going to advertise being open until 9p, then hold your services true to that closing time (to the extent possible). I'm all about wrapping things up at the end of a workday and going home, but it was clear that cook/chef who we engaged placed that desire before duty and basic customer service. Thankfully we found a restaurant within short driving distance willing to not only take our carryout order (at 8:42p), but took a full, 3 course (prep to order) meal (desert and all) that we took back to our room. Oh...and they also allowed me to wait past 9p (also their closing time) by the bar, offered a complimentary drink, as the chef ensured our filet mignon was perfectly cooked and not rushed due to a 9p hardstop utilization of the kitchen! Take some notes while you can Angel. It's called placing customers before self! We'll revisit Hot Springs someday soon; but I think it highly unlikely you will be a stop we make. I hope this doesn't happen again to any of your future, prospective clients. Wishing you...
