Recently some friends and I tried out this place with positive results. I had a pepperoni flatbread which was decent but definitely needed the cup of marinara that came with it. Unfortunately the marinara was a bit bland but I still asked for more cuz the little cup they give you is not nearly enough. Now my friends ordered a pizza and couldn't finish it so they offered me a slice, which I gladly accepted. I'm not a huge fan of Chicago style pies but this one was very good. It was cooked well and the crust had a nice buttery taste and texture. Their pizzas are a bit grippy but when you consider that one pie will easily feed 2 people the overall cost isn't too bad. Their service wasn't great though. It's basically a bar with some booth seats so other than someone bringing your food out there are no servers. Need a drink refill? Go to the bar. Need extra marinara? Go to the bar. Not a deal breaker, just an observation. Fans of Chicago style pizzas should definitely hit this place up.

First time visit. Amazing vibe, awesome music and good drinks. We ordered the baked shrooms appetizer and it was absolutely delicious. But the real reason we came was for the pizza! We ordered a Pink Cadillac and knew that it would take a little while to come out. An hour and a half later, a pizza was brought to our table but after taking a couple bites we realized it was not the pizza we ordered. Talked to the bartender and figured out that someone else (who ordered after us, hence our extra long wait) was given our pizza and we were given theirs. She offered to give us a discount if we wanted to keep that pizza, which we accepted because we didn't want to wait another hour and a half to eat. It was not something we would have ordered but pizza is like sex... even when it's bad, it's still pretty good. All in all a good experience and we will almost definitely come back if we're ever in Hot Springs again.

We were in town for the weekend and had heard great things about the pizza here. Maxine’s did not disappoint! My husband is obsessed with finding real Chicago-style pizza and we found it here - so much so we got it two nights in a row! We opted to get it takeout since it’s not a kid-friendly place and we had our toddler with us. Even on a super busy eclipse weekend Friday and Saturday night they had our order ready within 30-40 minutes! Be prepared for a fun dive bar experience if you dine in. There were a handful of security guys out front that directed me to the bar when I went to pick up our order at the end of the bar. The bartender was great when I picked it up, as well. The crust is so flavorful and the toppings don’t slide off like other pizza we’ve had. Each slice literally and figuratively stands up on its own! We can’t wait to come back here.

Maxine’s Review

During our recent trip to Arkansas, we decided to check out Maxine’s, a spot recommended by a local friend. Our excitement quickly turned into a bit of confusion upon arrival. There was a $7 cover charge per person, which I was fine with, but I found it uncomfortable when a family of five behind me was allowed to enter without paying after expressing their dissatisfaction with the over-18 policy. This inconsistency regarding the cover charge raised some eyebrows, especially since there was no live entertainment to justify it.

Once inside, I had to head to the bar to order drinks, which added to the feeling that the experience was somewhat disorganized. We tried an aviation and a margarita, but unfortunately, the aviation was served in the wrong glass and tasted off, which was disappointing. Having visited many places without a cover charge, I expected a higher standard here, especially given the entry fee.

The ambiance of Maxine’s has a nostalgic charm reminiscent of a speakeasy, with music set at just the right volume for conversation. I did enjoy the vibe, and I could hear Maxine herself towards the end of the night, adding a unique touch to the experience. However, the presence of underage patrons and the drink quality left something to be desired.

Overall, while Maxine’s has potential with its nostalgic atmosphere and the character of Maxine herself, the inconsistencies in policy and drink quality hindered our visit. We ended up only staying for a couple of drinks before deciding to move on, as the overall experience didn’t quite meet our...

I gave a 5 star rating for their pizza! It has always been the best pizza available in Hot Springs on bathhouse row. Now their service lacks EVERYTHING. You have to seat yourself then go to the bar to order your food as well as drinks. They only have staff I assume in the kitchen as well as the bar. They do bring pizza and plates out to you once pizza is ready. 20 minutes tops on your wait time. Best to order ahead so you don't have to stand around the bar just begging for someone to take your order. Trust me this is worth not having the wait staff. One more thing; if taking leftovers home, you'll need to transfer pizza from the cardboard pizza box to store or when you go back to eat it the pizza crust is stuck to the box due to them not placing a paper underneath pizza. I always wrap each piece separately in Glad Press & Seal wrap as it will not stick to your leftovers. Reheating in your stove oven brings back the crunchy crust actually making day old pizza even better than when it was fresh made. It's hard to make myself order pizza from anywhere else. Maxines is now my always go to, especially when taking friends whom have never tried it. Trust me you can't go wrong by getting any of their food. I am a Happy customer that keeps going back normally weekly. My only suggestion would be having a delivery service...

They had a burlesque show. I have never been to one before. I asked him if it was just women or if men did it to. They assured me that it was only women. Well that was a lie. I will never go there again. Also one of the people that work behind the bar the only guy that I seen that works there. Was very rude to me and his friend actually told me what why don't you just leave you know you don't have to be here. This is not the kind of bar that the Maxine's used to be. The lady that was the manager there she did not have anything under control. The guy that worked there was an absolute jerk and told me the reason he charged me for the extra beer that the bouncer was supposed to give me. It's because I didn't tip him. He didn't give me a chance to tip him. He just assumed he wasn't getting a tip. Which I did tip them I took all of them very good too. I did meet a few cool people there. But the staff were liars and thieves. If you want to have a good time don't go here. I've been to Bubba Brew's and Fat Jack's and I always always have a good time at both those places. I would go here. I think they changed owners at Maxines again. Because that staff is rude people that like to get over on people! Please think twice...
