I was so excited to visit Amala Zone, but when i got there, i was overly shocked, in a negative way. This place could really use a host or hostess to greet and seat the guest. Front entry was filthy, decided to proceed, hoping it would become more appealing. It only got worst. I went to the restrooms before ordering. The smell was very unpleasant, terrible oder, trash all over the floor, no tissue, no naptkins. I still wanted to give them a chance. When i got to the steam table, the food did not look all that good. I drove a long way, so i proceeded. The meat was so tuff, and tasted burnt. They give you the smallest portion of pounded yam. I got two small pieces of goat meat with the liquids they throw together, 2 orders for $46 dollars. The only reason i came was because of the instagram post. Ive tried many African restaurants in houston. This one is by far, the worst, save your money go else where. The whole experience was aweful, simply aweful. Im sure i can do a much better job running this place, with just selling eggs and toast. If the front of this restaurant is dirty, i can only imagine how filthy the back is. The owner needs to focus on taking care of her restaurant, and slow down with the catering. Or close the restaurant, and just focus on catering as its ruining her reputation. I will never ever come back to this aweful dreadful place, simply sickening. Disappointed, as you can tell. 😪😪😪😪 as far as customer service goes, it was very unwelcoming. One guy was eating while taking phone calls, while the young lady was chewing gum, maybe thats why she couldn't say hi. I was not acknowledge at all, i had to alert them to take my order, which happened 15 minutes later. Customer service was just as bad as the whole experience, such a pitty, such a shame. I realized on the videos, shes only serving one type of food, mixing liquids. Well, in the middle of the night, i kept making multiple visits to the restroom, my stomach was unsettling. 3 hours of going to and from the restroom. Then my husband started, i was like here we go again. Something is really wrong. I hope they fix the problems they have, as i try to support my people. But i dont want to get ill again as a result of it. Good luck my dear, your video fashions, should be bought to your restaurant the same way. Advice to the owner, hire an American to manage the front of the house, and one in the back. Pay them well, and they will fix all your problems. When family work for you, they get lazy very quickly. Read moreI am appalled at the service of this place. I wrote a review detailing what happened when they catered my friend's wedding this past weekend and they hid the review. I did not know it was possible to hide reviews but they did. I called and spoke with the owner Debbie who was more concerned about my Google review than what actually transpired. She gave me a bunch of stories about what went wrong, none of them accounting for the fact that a bride, on her own wedding day, had to stress out about having enough food for her reception guests because Amala Zone decided to show up three and a half hours later than they had previously arranged. What irritates me most is that my friend had paid in full already by this time. I cannot imagine having paid in full, then having my contractual obligations unmet, then to be told that the best that could be done in terms of compensation is nearly ten percent of what was paid. As a Nigerian, I hold our establishments in high regard and it disgusts me when we fall short of this standard. We must have high quality customer service and Amala Zone does not do that. I have never spoken to a restaurant owner who did not understand that when things were not met on her end, that proper compensation must be made. She really went back and forth with me on how her phone wasn't working, how the driver met traffic and other things. None of that has anything to do with me or takes away from the fact that a bride had her wedding day dampened because Amala Zone refused to implement high quality standards. A driver in traffic for three and a half hours is not my concern. If anything, that's on the business for not researching traffic patterns prior to and leaving at a suitable time. For the owner to ask me what my name was and if I was the one that left the bad Google review was also unprofessional because my Google review was not "bad"...it was fact filled on what transpired at the event that I attended. I came from out of state and will be sure to let those that are in my social circles that live in Houston know not to patronize Amala Zone. They should give their hard earned money to an establishment that values...
Read moreAmala zone attempted to ruin my wedding! When we first met miss Debbie we asked her to cater our wedding and she seemed authentic and professional One of the reasons I decided to go with her services . SHe told me that she would personally come out and serve the food herself she gave me a great first impression. That changed when it came down to contract and agreements. When it came down to actually discuss what she would do she completely switched everything and decided that none of those things that she promised in her first meeting with thingsi that she was willing to do to change the cost which was OK I was willing to pay more. Closer to the date of my wedding that she was supposed to be catering an amount for 50 people the venue as well as my planners requested her insurance forms you need insurance to cater any event or venue she stopped responding. My husband and then went down to her restaurant to ask her for the form and she decided she was going to attempt to charge him $350 for insurance that is supposed to be guaranteed when you agreed to cater an event. He said no and you can just give me a refund she then came back and said oh OK we don’t need to pay and additional 350 for the insurance. he paid the ending balance in full. When we first set the contract We agreed that the food would be at the event to set up no later than 230 pm for kitchen set up because the wedding started at 3 and we didn’t want food caterers running around through the guest in through the ceremony ... the food didn’t show or set up until 530 pm and hour after my damn reception was supposed to start. She refused all of our calls block the numbers of my planner we call her from a different number and got hung up on . This was complete Scam artist bs. When approached about this she offered a 50 dollar refund we paid 490 ! And you tried to ruin my wedding by being unprofessional and not communicating with us. Dude tells us he didn’t get the pick up call till 430 pm to even pick up the food . Trash customer service! Trash attitude !!! Zero remorse for doing this at my wedding . Not even a damn apology ! I will never give another dime to...
