Becks Prime — Restaurant in Houston

Becks Prime, located right next to Memorial Park, is a fantastic spot to meet up before or after a long walk. If you need a neutral location to meet another party, this is a great choice. It’s well-lit at night, making it a safe and convenient place to decide on your plans, whether you want to fuel up before your walk or satisfy your hunger afterward.

In my visit, I had the chopped steak and baked potato, and as you can see from my picture, I ate every single bite—absolutely delicious! I also want to recognize our server, an older gentleman with gray hair who was incredibly nice. He worked as the cashier and made sure we got refills. He was very helpful, talkative, and friendly, enhancing our dining experience.

The lemonade was a pleasant surprise—freshly squeezed and homemade. The seating area outside is lovely, where you can watch golfers in a peaceful setting. The shade provided by the building makes it comfortable to enjoy your meal outside.

If you’re looking for a great place to meet up, especially if you’re coming from Memorial Park, Becks Prime is perfect. It’s a great spot to connect, talk, strategize, and enjoy a delicious meal with exceptional service.

My wife has raved about the quality of the ground beef they apparently process here, and it lived up to the hype. I had Bill's Buger, proudly advertised as a Texas Monthly top 10 burger, which came with bacon, sautéed onion, Prime sauce, and jalapeno. It was an incredibly complex flavor, and almost every bite was unique. First I noticed the bacon, then the mysterious, creamy, tangy white Prime sauce (mayo-based), then a grape-sized grilled jalapeno that was juicy and mild and sweet. I tasted my wife's medium-rare cheeseburger and it was mustardy and excellent. The hand cut fries were good.

The young people working the counter were cool too. We went a little before sunset on one of those rare mild Houston days, and somehow the place was empty. We stood back while looking over the menu but the guy at the register started chit chatting with us and being friendly.

We watched some very intense golfers working on their form or whatever. They're safe from a distance and made for some great people watching. Throw in the beautiful sunset and weather... and it was surprisingly magical.

The concepts of elevated fast food/fast casual and "better burgers" are still currently the rage. But long before and long after this trend, Houston had Becks Prime.

And while on the upper end of the price range, Becks Prime still delivers the best counter service burger anywhere -- and better than a lot of sit down restaurants too.

While meeting the lady friend after work, I found out that she'd never tried Becks before and this location at Memorial Park was the closest. FYI, you need to keep an eye out for the location as it's part of the clubhouse complex.

The food is the same as any Becks location -- perfectly chargrilled burgers on an amazing egg bun that's the perfect intersection of challah and a hamburger bun. The fries are fresh cut and fried to perfection.

The other perk to any Becks location is the service. While ordering for us, I ordered a large order of fries. I mentioned to the staff that we were going to split the fries. Without even asking, they asked if they could split our order into two baskets. That's service more like a regular restaurant and unlike any other fast/counter...
