Chicken Salad Chick — Restaurant in Houston

I normally loveee this place and tell everyone about it Today I had a bad experience. I was craving my favorite place. I immediately went to the shelf and saw no large Dixie chick there were only two small. Ms Valerie asked and I wanted a large. She went to the shelf to get two small. She really tried to sell it to me even discount but I refused. She told the lady behind the counter what I wanted and she asked if there were two small salads to merge.. I made it known that I wanted fresh salad and not two salads from shelf. Ms Valerie even told me that the salad on the shelf is fresher than the salad on the line. She said salad on shelf expires 5 days and fresh salad on the line expires 6 days. The salad was merged anyways against my wishes

To there surprise I requested a new small salad. Their expressions changed because a new salad had to be made from the line as they merged the two old salads.

Im baffled by Valerie (shift leader) behavior). Not sure if her actions were a result of the fact it was almost closing and she had to empty the shelf...

Anywho it would be a concern if the chicken salad behind the counter is fresher then the salad which sits out all day on the shelf. Valerie is a poor representative of Chicken Salad Chick..What if I were a food critic or the...

I've tried this place a few times, ordering different items each time. Very consistent. They have a business plan, sticking with it, and it works. When you first walk in, you notice how clean the restaurant is. Like a home type of feel, and they don't flood you with a lot of advertising. The first time I ordered from here, the young man that helped me (Bryant, I think) was VERY knowledgeable about their products. He had suggestions, offered samples, and very patient. Friendly, professional and courteous. The food has always been fresh. To keep it simple, if it's ordered a certain way, you get it as ordered and it has been good. Don't get me wrong, we're talking about a chicken salad place now. They're just good at it. After multiple visits, I've noticed that the staff has been consistently friendly and appears to appreciate your business. If you haven't tried them, and want something other than burgers and fries, try them. You won't have a guilty feeling afterwards because their food gets you away from the grease. I’ve been on a chicken salad sandwich kick lately and THIS place offers lots of “research” opportunities. 😉 So many variations on this creamy sammy. Time to start checking them off the list and you always start with the classic.

The Classic Carol was pretty tasty! A definite good base if you want to take some to go (since they offer this, as well) and build on it at home. At first bite, you get a sultry, buttery flavor from the airy croissant and then you find a good balance of creaminess to chicken ratio. For me, though, a touch bit more of salt🧂and pepper were needed and then it disappeared.

The grape salad was… interesting. An odd pairing of cream cheese and red and green grapes 🍇 topped with brown sugar and crushed pecans. After every bite I just kept saying to myself: “this is interesting”, 🤔”hmm, interesting”, but then I found myself licking the bowl, so it must’ve been good.😄

The mini cookie was a nice surprise. Chewy and sweet and just the right size. 👍🏼 (Although, they do offer bigger ones individually packaged)
