First things first, the food at Escalante's is out of this world. From the moment I took my first bite of their sizzling fajitas, I knew I had found my Tex-Mex paradise. The flavors were incredibly authentic, and each dish was prepared with love and attention to detail. The menu offers a wide variety of options, from classic tacos and enchiladas to mouthwatering tamales and perfectly seasoned carne asada. Trust me, your taste buds will thank you!
But let me tell you about the real star of the show: Lisa, the bartender extraordinaire. This woman knows her craft like nobody else. Not only did she whip up the most refreshing margaritas I've ever had, but she also made sure that every customer felt like a VIP. Lisa's friendly and warm personality instantly made me feel at home, and her extensive knowledge of the drink menu was truly impressive. She recommended some unique tequila-based cocktails that were absolute game-changers. I can't stress enough how much Lisa's exceptional bartending skills elevated my dining experience.
The ambiance at Escalante's is also worth mentioning. The restaurant has a cozy and inviting atmosphere, perfect for a casual hangout with friends or a romantic dinner with your significant other. The staff is attentive and always ready to cater to your needs, making you feel like part of the family. Whether you're celebrating a special occasion or simply craving some delicious Tex-Mex cuisine, Escalante's is the place to be.
In terms of value for money, Escalante's definitely hits the mark. The portion sizes are generous, and the quality of the ingredients is top-notch. You'll leave with a satisfied belly and a smile on your face, knowing that you got your money's worth.

Read moreMexican food and Tex Mex are so commonplace in the Houston, Texas area that most anyone is within minutes of at least one restaurant serving this type of food. I have my favorites, but I also have some restaurants that, while not at the top of my list, will certainly do in a pinch. A good example of the latter is Escalante’s Fine Tex Mex and Tequila on Westheimer road.
What you get at this Escalante’s location is a large size restaurant with cool art on the walls, a nice bar area, and a menu consisting of a wide assortment of salads, soups, appetizers, entrees, and more. You should have no problem finding a Tex Mex specialty to your liking. I usually go for an assortment, like the Tex Mex Dinner, which includes cheese enchiladas, a beef taco, rice, and beans. Other options are generally good and satisfying, too, like the fajitas or quesadillas.
The drink selection at Escalante’s is good, except for the beer. There are not enough craft options, not even local craft options. And as I recall, there is no draft beer at all, only bottles. It would be much better if they expanded the beer offerings to include at least a few craft beers, since beer generally goes very well with Mexican and Tex Mex food. If tequila is what you prefer, you should be more than satisfied at Escalante’s, since they serve a nice assortment of tequila and several margaritas.
Service at this Escalante’s restaurant is friendly and courteous. Parking isn’t an issue, either, as there is generally not a problem finding a free place to park in front of the restaurant As I said, the food is generally good, but not as fresh as I like and certainly not the best Mexican or Tex Mex in the area. That fact, coupled with the limited beer supply, add up to an average...
Read moreEscalante's is an upscale restaurant set in the Highland Village plaza in the Midtown area, and serves up some trendy Tex-Mex dishes. My two favorites are the Rack of Tacos and the Enchilada Platter. I usually only visit once or twice a year but over the years I went there they have always had quality food. There is no RSVP but it's recommended that you call ahead about 30 minutes so seating can be assured, especially if you are not coming alone, or on peak holiday or dining hours. The restaurant has a nice decor and great booth, table, and elevated booth seating options, as well as outdoor seating. Appetizers are delicious, and for things like the guacamole they make it right by your table with all the toppings you specify. Servers are attentive and check frequently to make sure you are satisfied. Dessert choices are good too. The Flan and Mini Churros with Chocolate are solid favorites. Prices are mid range and parking is usually available, even at peak hours. Valet parking is an option as well. Noise levels in the restaurant are low so you can enjoy the company of a friend or date. Lastly, the servers are polite and will not try to rush you out if you're finished eating and want to spend a few minutes sitting at the table/booth and finish off your drinks. That's always a big plus as its adds to the ambiance and 'feel' of the restaurant...
