Save yourselves the trouble of going here. Where do I even begin. We were sat down & our drink orders taken. The drinks took some time to be served. When they finally did, I was barely able to take one sip from it when a guy came and told us that we had to get up and leave because they close at 2 AM. It was 2:05 literally. We figured ok we were just served, we might be allowed to finish our drinks. Nope. At 2:08 a second guy came & told us we had to leave, that “The District” would be upset with them for keeping patrons past closing time. Never in my life has this happened to me in any restaurant or bar. It was extremely rude and unprofessional. I don’t understand why they let us in in the first place, if they were so strict about their closing hours. My drink literally sat at the table seemingly untouched. They took our money of course. We made no fuss about it, got up to leave, but we noticed that none of the other tables were getting up to leave. We wondered if they were even asked to leave, it certainly didn’t seem like it. One thing to note, our group consisted of 3 African Americans and a Latina. Everyone else still sitting inside & outside: white. We were not being loud, we were not being rambunctious, In fact we were probably the calmest table in the whole place at that hour. Out in the patio there were a bunch of patrons seemingly enjoying their time, not in any rush to leave they so my friend went back in to get my drink so that we could be out of their way inside and I could enjoy my drink outside, but not even half a minute later it had been cleared.
I’m incredibly upset at the whole situation it was probably for the best because the drink did not even taste that great to me. Who messes up a gin & tonic that badly? I could have just as well ordered the same drink at the trashiest bar in the city. While waiting for said drink to be served, I had the unfortunate need to use their bathroom. I’ve never seen a more smelly, dirty, utterly disgusting bathroom. There was urine all over the floor. I mean all over. It certainly seemed like the bathroom had not been cleaned all day. I mean seriously, I’ve never seen a more disgusting bathroom anywhere. Felt like being in a porta-potty. On the way to the bathroom, I had to be extremely cautious because their dining room floors were also so terribly dirty with grease which made them super slippery. I was so terribly scared of falling the whole way from the table to bathroom and back.
Loch Bar is definitely not on par with the rest of the establishments in River Oaks District. I hope “The District” is indeed “mad” at them & runs them out of their lease to give a properly-run, classy establishment a chance to take its place. I won’t be back until that happens. I also have a business in River Oaks so I know the expectations of patrons in this part of town. I will definitely be sharing my experience with my many clients in the area, so that they don’t waste their time patronizing an establishment that treats its guest like...
Read moreLoch Bar HTX Decided to check the Loch out on a Saturday night during Houston’s restaurant month. I looked up the location ahead of time and saw that it was in a very nice area ( rich ) with a lot happening ( shopping/ restaurants/ movie theater) , so I knew that parking was going to be an issue. My first thought was to just valet park for the $10 plus but when we arrived we saw this huge garage in the middle of the complex that supposedly indicates where there are empty spots so we gave it a try. Not necessary true. By the time you reach the spot it is already snapped up. That was a wasted 10 minutes so we decided to exit and go back to the valet. I recommend this if it’s on the weekend and prime time ( 7:00pm - 9:30pm). You can pay with $$, credit or Apple Pay👍🏾The restaurant itself is in beautiful plaza / mall, it is not super large but has that nice rich dark interior. The ambiance is great. We were initially seated at a table that was half booth and half chairs in the main dining area but I don’t like being out in the walk way because of the traffic , so I requested a booth. They were able to find us an open booth in what I describe as the bar side. I liked this spot better because it was closer to the background music ( nice touch) and a TV or two with sports on. The volume in this area didn’t interfere with our conversation at all. They have 3 of the shared restrooms which are not my wife’s favorite, but they were very clean. There was a small line because they only have the three. As for the food, we had a set menu for restaurant month. We all had the breaded salmon/cucumber as the app but gave it a 5/10 because it was not really fried as hard as we expected. The entrees were the blackened redfish 8/10 and the Nashville fried chicken 8/10. For the dessert we all got the apple cheesecake which was surprisingly good 9/10. Only one person ordered a drink ( lemon drop) and I thought $25 for that was a little excessive. Our servers name was Seven and she did an outstanding job throughout. She was very knowledgeable, pleasant and patient. Be aware that there is a 3 percent service fee attached to your bill which you can have removed if you to do so . Would we return or recommend this restaurant....
Read moreI had a very disappointing experience at Loch Bar in Houston last night. My husband, sister, and I decided to stop by for a late dinner after work to relax and enjoy the music we’ve heard so much about. While the food and music were excellent, the service left a lot to be desired and completely ruined our evening.
We arrived around 12:30 AM, well before the kitchen closed at 1:30 AM, so we weren’t rushing the staff or cutting it close. At first, our server was polite, but as the evening went on, his attentiveness completely disappeared. There were no check-ins, no water refills, and no effort to pre-bus the table. We waited over 30 minutes for our check, and during that time, two other servers acknowledged us and even told him we were waiting. Despite this, he blatantly ignored us, choosing instead to chat and laugh with coworkers while on his phone.
Eventually, the host had to bring us the bill, and we waited another 15 minutes for the server to return with the payment system. When he finally came, instead of apologizing, he made rude and condescending remarks, telling us it was our “nap time” and warning us not to drink and drive because of police presence—comments that felt judgmental and inappropriate. I’m 21 years old and was treated like a child who shouldn’t be out late.
This was our first visit to Loch Bar, and it was clear our time, money, and overall experience were not valued. As a fellow fine dining server, I know the importance of treating every guest with the same level of care, whether they’re the first or last table of the night. The excuse that we came “late” does not justify poor service.
This experience was disrespectful both as a customer and as someone who understands the effort that should go into creating a positive dining experience. We had plans that were delayed due to the excessive waiting, and the dismissive attitude of the server sealed the decision that we will not return. Loch Bar may have good food and music, but service like this undermines...
