So my friend owed me lunch and said I’d really like this spot—turns out, they were right. Parking was a bit of a hassle though, just a heads-up: most of the spots out front are paid and you have to scan a QR code, which took a second to figure out.

Once we got inside, the vibe totally made up for it. We were greeted right away and ended up sitting at the bar. It looked cozy, and the barstools were surprisingly comfortable. They offered a few kinds of water, and I never thought I’d be the type to notice the difference… but wow. One of them honestly tasted like it came straight from a glacier—like something God filtered Himself.

We started with the lobster mac & cheese, and it was next-level—super creamy, cheesy, and the pasta was cooked just right. I ordered the French chicken, which came with this rich, flavorful sauce, a fresh Jack salad with vinaigrette, and some perfectly seasoned, thin-cut fries. My friend got the Hudson salad topped with chicken poppers and a drizzle of that same vinaigrette—so simple, but so good.

Service was on point. Our waitress didn’t miss a beat, and even the manager came by to check on us, which I always appreciate. Before we left, I stopped by the restroom and honestly, they deserve a shoutout too—clean, spacious, plenty of stalls, and they had the good paper towels. You know, the kind that actually dry your hands with just one.

Bottom line: if you’re in the area, don’t let the parking situation turn you off. This place is worth it. You won’t be disappointed.

My husband and I visited Hudson House for happy hour on Friday. If I could give 0 stars I would for the following reasons:

  • Note: Upon arrival we were warned by another guest sitting next to us that the bartender was being mean to their group* We sat at the low bar seats at the very end - The blonde bartender with the single braid looked at us , didn't offer menus , and we were left to remove the empty glasses, dishes, and napkins from the previous patrons The bar was full so I gave her the benefit of the doubt-we waited patiently thinking she would acknowledge us/offer menus when she walked back over She walked by us 5x without saying anything or even getting waters i then realized we were simply being ignored as she was no longer busy After waiting 20 minutes with no menus, waters, or greeting we felt unwelcomed so we left and walked to Hopdoddy which always has great service For the prices at Hudson House I expect to at minimum be acknowledged I will not be returning as this is unacceptable I encourage the bartender to find a job she at least partially enjoys. Working in a restaurant is not easy (I've done it)however, that isn't an excuse to treat customers poorly as you are being paid/tipped to do at least the bare minimum I encourage everyone to spend money in places that appreciate your business and don't treat you like an inconvenience/burden there are too many amazing options in Houston to...

We went the Sunday early afternoon after their grand opening at 415pm ish. We assumed we could easily get a table since it was well before dinner rush time.

We walked in to a fully empty restaurant with three hostesses who told us they would not be accepting a single walk in all evening but we were welcome to sit at the bar. I questioned it, but assumed since it was a new restaurant they’d already booked all their tables for the night. We sat at the bar and ordered an appetizer and chicken for dinner with a side of Mac and cheese. I made sure to ask the bartender to have the appetizer come out first or to wait on placing the dinner order as we wanted to take our time(to be fair, an appetizer should come before the meal anyway). She ensured me it would.

Everything came out at once and when I mentioned it, she did nothing about it and brushed it off. This bothered me, I didn’t expect anything, but I specially asked for it to come out first.

We finished our meal, and left a still empty restaurant. Annoying we couldn’t sit at a real table as no one was sat during the duration of our meal. Maybe the restaurant was waiting for their wait staff to arrive, but they specially said they wouldn’t be taking any walk-ins for the entirety of the night. Not a great first impression.

Food was very...

Just had the most delightful lunch at Hudson House with a couple of girlfriends, and I can't recommend it enough! The atmosphere was absolutely perfect for conversation – lively enough to feel vibrant, but not so loud that we couldn't hear each other. We started with the spicy tuna appetizer on crispy rice, and it was phenomenal – seriously, order it! For my main, I took the chef's recommendation and had the Montauk salad. The dressing was incredibly good, and the whole salad was fresh and satisfying. I left feeling perfectly full and genuinely happy. I'm already looking forward to going back to try their sandwiches next time!

I recently visited the Hudson House on a Friday for happy hour, and they have some amazing deals...half-priced Bellinis, martinis, and wine by the glass, plus $3 East Coast oysters! I definitely recommend getting there right at the start of happy hour, which is from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m., because it’s only available at the bar. If you don’t snag a seat early, you might have to wait a bit, but it’s worth it. The atmosphere isn’t too crowded, just a nice spot to enjoy some great drinks, delicious oysters, and conversations with friends. The bar service was great,
