First time trying this place. You are better off picking up - parking is a nightmare. You can probably find parking on the street and you'll have to walk. Get those steps in! Now, on to the food. There's about 1 million options here, so I actually am not a fan of that. Leaving folks with decision fatigue is not a good move. But I digress. I ended up getting the "James and giant peach" vegan fried "chicken" with cheddar and honey mustard sauce. Added jalapenos, banana peppers, red onions, pickles for free. Got it in the dutch bread - I recommend. Not sure what dutch bread is, but it's tasty. I don't think this is a place for "clean" sandwiches. You can add stuff like mozzerala sticks and fries to your sandwich, if you're in to having heart attacks at lunch. I just did the sandwich alone and it was more than enough. Also, it's not cheap! $12 bucks or so for a sandwich - california chain with california prices. Don't think this is a regular spot for me but definitely a nice changeup from other sandwich joints in h-town. Go try Ike's love and sandwiches and see what you think!

I believe this is my first negative review of any establishment based on food only, not service. I have wanted to try Ike's for awhile and finally did. The marketing, sign, and shop looked cool from the street. I had the Mark Appel sandwich. Perhaps sandwiches named after people should have been my warning. My bread had a nice flavor but the texture was chewy and almost stale. The fried chicken tasted like a warmed up giant chicken nugget from the frozen food section at a grocery store. The chicken didn't even cover the bread. Several bites left me with shredded lettuce, tomatoes, and sauce. The highlight were my Zapp's chips and my Dr. Pepper. The price was sticker shock. $17.30 for a sandwich combo? No way! Yes, way! I figure most of that cost is to pay their Heights rent. Sorry Ike's but Potbelly, Jimmy John's, and Jersey Mike's are much better at a fraction of the cost

I stopped by this sandwich shop and was blown away by how delicious my sandwich was—perfectly made with fresh ingredients and great flavor! However, my experience was mixed due to the cleanliness of the establishment. When I walked in, the employees looked tired and unwelcoming, with one even sitting at a customer table. While I understand it was a slow day, what really concerned me was the lack of cleanliness. The floors and tables were noticeably dirty, and there was an unacceptable amount of trash left unattended. It made me question the overall food safety, and I even considered asking for a refund. It's disappointing because the food itself was amazing, but the atmosphere and hygiene need serious improvement. I would love to come back, but I’m hesitant unless I see better upkeep. Hopefully, management takes these concerns seriously because this place has potential!

The stars are only because they have Zapps chips. The food is acceptable but 100% not worth the filthy dining area and service that isn’t exactly customer focused. I visited with my husband and two children. I was first told there was no children’s menu then moments later was dictated a children’s menu. Slightly confusing but okay. After an oddly inefficient order placement, we were told the machine froze so they would need to place it on another machine. Understandable. We finally get seated and next to fountain drink area where you expect to have utensils and napkins there were a few disheveled cardboard boxes so you had to get back in line to ask for these basics. After about 3 orders came out before ours we asked and were told our order was being ā€œwrappedā€ and brought to us. Another 10 minutes go by and it turns out our food was in a to go bag in the back counter just sitting. No one noticed or cared to figure out what 4 sandwiches was doing there. Our name was never called. Overall we spent about an hour in the store. About 15 minutes was spent attempting to order(there were no other customers), 30 minutes was spent waiting for food and the rest was we spent frantically eating because we desperately wanted to get out there.

Lastly, all the prices on the menu were haphazardly scratched out with sharpie. I guess they had to raise their...

Stay far away. Used to be a great go-to sandwich shop but it’s rapidly degraded over the past year to the point of embarrassment. It’s dirty and tired, employees are disheveled in whatever clothes they threw on, and they can’t even focus long enough to take an order coherently.

All three of my most recent visits they’ve failed to even make an order correctly. I’ve ordered the same sandwich since they opened this location (Damon Bruce on Dutch bread, no lettuce, yes to tomato and special sauce, add red onion). They used to execute flawlessly, but the new staff is incapable. One time it was just meat and onion rings. Next time it was meat, rings lettuce, This time they at least got red onions, but still no tomatoes and there was lettuce on the sandwich. I’m allergic to lettuce so I’ve had to sit there every time picking the lettuce off due to the terrible staff.

Add on top the sandwiches are now $16 and taste nothing like they should and this place is not with anyone stopping in. Unless they get new management and employees that actually care about delivering the Ike’s product nobody should be stopping here, much less paying $16 for the abysmal product.

Note to the company below, I did go on the website and filled out the contact form immediately after it happened nobody...
