I am extremely upset and disappointed with my recent experience at Kim Tea House. I went in with the intention of getting a French vanilla cappuccino with boba, a simple order that I had been looking forward to. I paid for my drink and was never informed that there was no boba available. When I received my drink and noticed there was no boba, I was confused and immediately pointed out to the employee that the drink wasn't what I had ordered.
What followed was an appalling lack of customer service. If there is no boba, why wasn’t I told beforehand? Why wasn’t I offered an alternative or even a heads-up before my drink was made? Instead, I was told that it would take 30 minutes to prepare more boba. Mind you, I had traveled all the way from the Heights to the west side of town specifically for this drink, so I agreed to wait, hoping for some sort of resolution.
Finally, after the long wait, my drink was ready. However, to my shock, I was charged an additional $0.60 for the boba that I wasn’t initially told was unavailable. If anything, I felt that I should not have been charged for something I was never informed about. When I asked again why I wasn’t told upfront about the boba situation, I was met with silence from the staff—everyone seemed to freeze, unsure of how to respond.
According to Kim Tea House’s employee handbook, (2023) customer service is supposed to be a top priority, but this experience was far from that. It seems like there needs to be a serious reevaluation of both staff training and accountability. It’s incredibly frustrating to feel like a business doesn’t value your time or your money, especially when simple communication could have made the entire...
Read moreThis is my new favorite Teahouse in Houston. They do not skimp on the boba. They have wide variety of flavors. I have never been disappointed with a drink. They have a frequent drinker card, so you get one free after purchasing 10.
Today was my first time trying the food. So I got squid balls and popcorn chicken. Both were delicious but BEWARE! They will ask you about level of spiciness for both snacks. I like heat so I said medium. It was So Hot that I felt my chest on fire! Will not make that mistake again. Next time I will order with no heat at all for squid balls and maybe mild for chicken. They were out of calamari. My husband enjoyed his BBQ pork Bahn Mi.
What TO get: All drinks have been great. For newbies: Jasmine green tea with Matcha boba or Strawberry Smoothie with regular boba.
What NOT to get: Extra Spicy...
Read moreThis place has definitely gone downhill, I went in there to get a brown sugar milk tea with no ice and I saw the older lady making my drink pouring water into the drink to make up for lack of ice. At first I thought it was part of the drink but it wasn’t it tasted so water down…and the chubby looking guy in there (don’t know his name) was consistently yelling at the young girl and other girls in the establishment in front of the customers, it was quite scary and upsetting they need better management that treats employees and customers with better respect. Try other tea shops off of Bellaire in Chinatown they have better drinks, no watering down, no mean management and no disturbing atmosphere. KIMS TEAHOUSE...
