I cannot describe with words of how racist these people are. I went there on a Friday night with my girlfriend we seat at the bar for 10 minutes waiting to order our drinks. The bartenders seem to ignore us the reason why I say this is because they assisted 4 different people as they approached the bar and we were there way before them. I honestly felt uncomfortable I knew at that time there was something weird about this establishment. After me waiving several times finally we ordered and got our drinks. Nevertheless, I decided to give these bigots another shot 2 months later with a couple of Hispanic friends. As we walked in we started ordering drinks and the bartender asked us to leave since two of my friends had Mexican passport and couldn't use that as proof of ID. We felt very discriminated as we asked the bartender to let us stay without having two of my friends order alcoholic beverages. He said that my 2 friends needed to leave and only people with texas ID could stay. What the heck? We've never encountered this problem before in any other restaurant/bar/hotels/police/ What is wrong with these...
Read moreMarquis II is a neighborhood bar with alot of history and is filled with regulars most days. The bar is much bigger than it looks from the outside. There are a few TVs, pool tables, and board games to entertain you while hang out.
It's kind of an old school bar. Wooden bar, high bar chairs, old school liquor display behind the bar. It's a throwback and a bit classy. With that said, the classy look and feel doesn't come cheap. The drinks are a bit more expensive, but I think the laid back atmosphere is worth it.
There is no food available inside the establishment, but you can get ubereats or door dash delivered or randomly there is a food truck in front.
It's an independent bar, not part of a chain. Employees aren't wearing uniforms, it's a different vibe from a Twin Peaks, or Buffalo Wild Wings. It's not for everyone as it's a more quiet, mature vibe than your average sports bar. I like it, but I can see how some may want a bit more energy in their local...
Read moreWe've been coming here with friends for years. And the one thing that has remained consistent through all those years is...Everything! From the great service, great drinks, great atmosphere and of course Al, everything is always right were you expect it to be. Marquis holds a special place with me. It's where friends and I have celebrated birthdays, It's where we've celebrated engagements and even when friends move away we've celebrated their journey so far. Al taking over has only brought new life to what was already established and I definitely appreciate it.
To anyone who is considering just having a drink here, just go, have a drink, talk to the bartenders, talk to the people around you and realize that what makes this place special is that its not trying to be anything but what it is, THE neighborhood bar. And that's why we love it.
P.S. Don't think that Al isn't keeping tabs on how many Tea's people have had, he knows all,...
