“Pete’s Fine Meats” OR “Fine pete, didn’t sell any Meat”
I wanted to buy 6 lbs of beef short ribs. I was informed that they have “plates” ….. that’s fine. As a consumer that is willing to pay I was told that they “don’t split the plates”. I have no idea what that means nor care what a “butcher” can’t sell. I had to buy 9+ pounds….
*I called beforehand and asked “do you have/sell beef short ribs”
Man on phone “We have plenty of beef short ribs, come in!
45 minute drive later
Fine, don’t sell meat. Aka force me to buy 33% more than I want…I’ll go somewhere else. But a butcher that sells meat that can’t sell what the customer wants is absurd.
Thought it was reasonable to express my disappointment. I was reminded “you know how long this place has been here” by a uninvolved patron..
Spoke to who I assume was “Pete”
Clearly Pete forgot what it is to do what he does best “ sell meat”. Apparently He has had so much success and has so much business that he has forgotten why he started this service in the first place.
Good for you Pete. I hope I can afford one day to not consider those that contribute to getting you where you are today. A “little prince” (Actually, I’ll never be like that but that’s beside the point)
I suspect 50 years ago when little Pete began this business he was grateful for every customer that came. 50 years later big Pete feels people should be grateful to be served by him.
Shame on you Pete. I guarantee I’ll find what I’m looking for. I’ll guarantee I’ll never come to your location again. I’ll guarantee, when the opportunity presents. I’ll share my story of My experience at the Palace of Pete
It won’t matter in the end. Pete has built his Kingdom and has his servants now. And this “little guy” who wanted to buy meat won’t matter …. But Pete will read this eventually, and Pete will be at home looking back and feel exactly like he has become … a prince with a little “p”
And I found exactly what I was looking for.
And as I feed my family I’ll relish the conversation about pete and...
Read moreI used to go here quite a bit with my family to buy deer and the walnut cranberry bread they used to sell Pete was always kind and treated my family with respect as soon as we walked in. We were always greeted and asked if we were looking for anything in particular. Once we bought a whole deer and he throw in some buffalo burgers as a treat.
I recently returned here with my mother to see if we could find the bread we loved. As we were getting out of our car a gentleman was getting out of his car and was giving us a rather dirty look. The man was driving a white Range Rover, if that helps jog a few memories. We walked into the store and started to look around for the bread but unfortunately we were not able to find it. We were in the store for about 10 minutes and through out this time no one approached us, asked if we needed help, or even greeted us.
We noticed the same man that had given us the dirty look was behind the counter talking with some of the workers. I don’t know if this man was the owner of the store or if he’s a relative of the owner but he noticed we were looking around. He even motioned to us to the workers but still no one approached us. We left the store since we felt so unwelcome and didn’t even bother asking for help since it didn’t seem like they wanted to help us.
I used to have fond memories about this store due to the previous experience we had here but this has soured my experience rather terribly. I have never walked into a store and felt so disrespected than this time when I visited Pete’s. I don’t write reviews very often since I believe it’s a bit of waste of time but I wanted to speak out about this treatment since I don’t remember Pete’s as this type of place. Unfortunately I won’t be returning here anymore since I felt so unwelcome. Truly a sad occurrence that ruined one of my favorite places since...
Read moreI've only used Pete's Fine Meats for dear processing once, and it was this season (2020). I brought 6 dear to them and had it processed into a various assortment of their offerings. One of the items I ordered was the venison tamales, of which I ordered 10 dozen. When my order was ready for pick up they had made 100 dozen tamales. The owner, Mike I think, said it was a mistake and that I could buy the tamales for around $400. I didn't want the tamales, not 90 dozen extra. And I didn't want to pay $400 for something I didn't order. What I really wanted was meat back, of which about 8 lbs. went into these extra tamales. He said he would give me 8 lbs. of Axis meat to make up for it and that he would just sell the extra 90 dozen tamales because according to Mike, "they're one of my top sellers". Well, I didn't get any Axis meat. How do I know? All of my ground meat was on the bottom of the box. You would expect the 8 lbs. of Axis on the very top right? Like did they unload the box to add the Axis to the bottom and then add everything back...no. So, they screwed up my order, wasted my meat, didn't refund me for the meat, didn't replace the meat, and to top it all off they sold my meat in the form of 90 dozen tamales to the general public. I spend over $1,200 on this stuff and I expected much more. I'll never go back...
