So Pizaro's Pizza Napoletano is definitely one of the best in Houston. They recently were ranked as such in the Houston Chronicle. Since grading pizza is so subjective I have applied a little structure to "Pizza Thursday" that helps YOU make up your own mind about this establishment. The grading is 1-5... with 5 being the best or most. Crust Thickness - 1.5 NY style thin, but ideal Neapolitano style crust using double zero flour as they should. Crust Flavor - 4.5, but 5 if you are aware of Neapolitano flour and consistency. Tasty with perfect shape and edge.. A little floppy at the tip, but get over it. Cheese amount and elasticity - 4 had just a lighter amout of stretch but well proportioned Topping quantity - 5 excellent quantity and dispersion qith geometric precision and placement. Sauce Quantity - 3 perfect for coverage and just enough for what I like Sauce Flavor - 5 very nice Atmosphere Cleanliness - 5 Very clean and set up nicely. Good music and well organized so that you have space to yourself Atmosphere noise level - 5 very quiet and easy to have a conversation Day After - 5 it kept well and was still amazing. Firmer and less floppy when cold.. so good. Comments: overall I grade Pizaro's Pizza Napolitano at a solid 4.75 The Gray location is perfect for sit down, inside dining, as well as take-out. I didn't get dessert, but chose to get a glass of chianti. The Pizza was very good, and worthy of...
Read moreBill 'Papa Pizaro' and his family are doing what California wine makers were doing back in the 70s when Chateau Montelena, an American Wine, won first place in a blind tasting in France. They are taking a beloved European treat, Pizza, and serving it up pure and true right here in Texas.
I spent two weeks in Italy this summer and half my meals were Pizza. I love pizza and I was in the pizza homeland, it was amazing. Having eaten all the Neapolitan Pizza I could I can confidently say that Pizaro's is legit. After my first bite all I could think was, 'wow.. what a world...' There I was, eating the same textures and tasting the same flavors as Italy, only instead of Italian chatter in the background, it was your local station, and instead of small Fiats and mopeds buzzing down a narrow street, we had nice big cars driving along a four lane boulevard. A straight up taste of Italy served in an American casual pizza joint. Wow. What a world we live in these days.
You can literally just drive down the street and get the same Italian slice as flying halfway around the world and enduring two hours of traffic to get into the heart of Naples. The pizza here is certainly the best and most authentic pizza you can find in town, and some of the best in the world. Pizaro's is an all American family running a pizza joint true to the history and soul of pizza. I would recommend, and I...
Read moreVisited today for the first time. Food was good but everything else was terrible. And, I posted a comment to their FB page -- they just deleted it. Even more of a reason to NEVER go back. -guy taking orders had mask around his neck. Never put it over his mouth or nose. Walked around the entire place like this. Even back behind the counter around the food. I'm pretty sure Harris Country Health Dept has some policy on this right now but even if not, for the sake of customers WEAR YOUR MASK properly! -guy taking order was also pretty rude. Didn't really acknowledge us or say thank you. -owner or manager refilled his drink a few times with the same glass using the fountain machine that is closed off to patrons due to not being safe for people to use same glasses/etc. Every time it was the same glass he had been drinking out of without straw. -was impossible for us to get our water refilled. I had to get up and ask. I asked person that was out in the restaurant cleaning tables and stuff. He went to ask a question to the guy that took our order -- it was obvious because he looked over at our table. I'm assuming he did not tell the guy to use a clean glass because they took our dirty cups up to the machine. -same rude guy (took order) walked right past our table after asking the table next to us if they needed anything. It was obvious we were out of water but he didn't...
