LOL! What started out as a somewhat awkward and interesting beginning turned out to be a fairly good experience! When we first arrived we were greeted by whom I presume was "grandpa" ... after a couple funny looks like maybe I should have been next door at the Crawfish place where the line was very long and "urban" ... we were seated. Our server approached and when we asked for a kids cup ... that's when we determined that she did not speak much english ... also at that moment I thought to myself maybe grandpa was on to something and I was at the wrong place haha!! Needless to say things started to normalize when who I will presume was "Dad" showed up to offer some help with the language barrier. I use the familial terms as this is truly a family owned restaurant. Once we came to the understanding that we (server and patron) would just have to take our time with each other...we were ready for our endeavor. They provide bread and an amazing chimichurri sauce and we ordered the Chicken pasta, an empanada, the sausages (chorizo and blood sausage), the bacon wrapped shrimp, bruschetta and the sweetbreads. Everything was delicious with a very home cooked kind of taste and feel which was actually very inviting. In other words not a lot of fancy presentations or flare just good (and a little greasy) food. This was my first time having Uruguayan food, so I will assume this was authentic, considering everything else about the environment and the family being so. There was also live Music. Oh and if you want to drink anything other than wine ... you just have to ask as the menu does not list a beer selection but they do have it. If I find myself in that part of town again... Saldivia will def. Be in consideration.

A Memorable Experience at Saldivia's South American Grill As a percussionist, I often find myself in unexpected places, but arriving at Saldivia's for a recent performance was truly a delightful surprise. Little did I know that I was about to drum at one of my absolute favorite spots for South American cuisine! The warm hospitality of the team at Saldivia's stood out immediately. From providing us, the artists, with a dedicated space for our belongings to ensuring we were well-fed with their delicious, flavorful dishes, every detail was handled with care and thoughtfulness. Their commitment to treating performers with such respect and generosity made the evening even more special. The ambiance, coupled with their incredible cuisine, reminded me why Saldivia's is such a gem in the city. Performing at a place I already love elevated the experience beyond words. I’m so grateful for the opportunity to share rhythms and energy in a space that celebrates culture and community so vibrantly. If you haven’t visited Saldivia's yet, you’re missing out on an unforgettable culinary and cultural journey. Huge thanks to their team for making artists feel valued and welcomed—it truly makes all the difference. #Saldivias #SouthAmericanCuisine #GratefulArtist #CulturalConnection

Nestled within a shopping center, Saldivias South American Grill may appear unassuming from the outside, but don’t let its location fool you. As soon as you step inside, you discover a warm and inviting atmosphere that sets the stage for an exceptional dining experience.

Our group was settled comfortably in a spacious booth, perfect for enjoying a leisurely meal together. One of the first things that caught our attention was the extensive wine selection. It's a wine lover's paradise, with an array of options that cater to many tastes. The staff was knowledgeable and eager to recommend the perfect pairings for our meals, enriching our culinary journey.

The highlight of my meal was the perfectly cooked lamb chops. They were tender, succulent, and bursting with flavor, showcasing the kitchen's attention to detail and commitment to quality. Each bite was a testament to the skill and passion that go into their offerings.

The decor, featuring dark wood accents and wine bottles adorning the walls, creates a cozy yet sophisticated ambiance. It's charming to see that the bottles are not just for decoration but are marked for sale, adding an interesting twist to your visit.

In summary, Saldivias South American Grill is a hidden gem that you won't want to overlook. Its unpretentious location, coupled with outstanding food, and impressive wine selection, makes it a must-visit for anyone seeking a memorable dining experience.

Thank...

Food comes out within a reasonable amount of time and is very tasty. Service was friendly and fast. The food has kind of a unique mild spiciness to it, even with the oil for bread. Food is reasonably priced for the portion and quality you're getting. The crepe desert was a little overpriced for the amount you're getting, but it's very tasty and I guess that's par for the course in terms of restaurant deserts.

The interior looks very beautiful and well thought out. Some of the cushioned chairs are a little worn, but that just comes with the age of the place. The back looks like it has a small stage for live music, which seems pretty cool. Overall a great experience.

Besides salads, there are very few vegetarian options, but that's more of a "me" problem than a restaurant problem. The waiter who helped me was not knowledgeable about veggie options and needed to talk to someone in the back, but he was very friendly with my questions and got answers quickly.

Not even the person in the back knew all the veggie options and only said there was one when there were clearly a few more. They should be trained to know this answer by heart, but maybe there aren't very many customers who ask this. I'm not gonna ding them on that.

Check this place out if you want some tasty Hispanic food. You won't be disappointed. The food has a...
