This small little kitchen is tucked away in its own little corner of an unassuming small strip center. Shadowed by the HEB next door, it's easy to miss. I've passed this place by so many times without notice or second thought. Until my boy, Miguel, mentioned that he actually eats here all the time. Today, I finally decided to give it a try. I'll be honest, the $10 plus price for a plate was a little off-putting for lunch, but what the heck, I had some Uber eats credit to burn, so I placed an order for the namesake teriyaki chicken with white rice and off I went to pick up my order at this tiny restaurant tucked away in the corner. The place is as small inside as I had imagined. But, it was nice and clean, much nicer than I imagined. The old lady at the counter had trouble locating my order, which is odd as I was only the 3rd person in there. After a little confusion she handed me my food without fanfare. I opened the package at home and was pleasantly surprised to find a good sized portion awaiting me. The sauce smelled excellent and tasted just as well. "Mhmm, good sauce. I really like the sauce" - my wife. I gobbled it all up at once after letting my wife take her sample. Everything was on point and I am satisfied with my lunch option. In short, the food is great, but the service... not so much. Which is fine, because this is what I expect from tasty hole in the wall asian places. I'm here for the food, not the service.

I ordered three items from the menu. There was a miscommunication between me and the older lady taking my order, But bruh,I ordered fried rice and I got French fries, now I know most people would be disappointed and mildly confused as to why they got served French fries, when they had just ordered fried rice,BEST MISTAKE when ordering food.lol. Those re heated fries were the bomb, they had cheese and some other sauce on it and they topped it with some, chicken meat and they was delicious The tonkotu ramen, was also very delicious,I didn't have to the add anything, the soup was on point the way it came out the kitchen. The spicy teriyaki was just the right sweetness and spicy combination, the meat was tender and just delicious. Its only been the 3rd Japanese restaurant I've been to in houston, and it's on par with tamashi and the other ramen place I visited here in spring branch.

Fried rice was too wet and mushy. Shrimp looked to be frozen, boiled, and then just thrown in top of the fried rice. Texture of all of it was horrible. Couldn’t even force myself to take more than a couple of bites. Rice in the chicken katsu was also mushy. Chicken was over fried. At least the broccoli appeared to be fresh. Miso soup had way too much miso. How you can mess up a miso soup is beyond me. Called to ask for a refund and they offered us free food next time. Lady just asked for my name and said ok next time you can have free food. Lol I wanted a refund.

I was so excited to try this place. The older man at the register is very rude & unwelcoming especially considering i just moved to Houston 3 weeks ago & was so excited to try them. Their service was so unwelcoming & trash that i just politely asked for a refund after confirming that i was DINING IN 30 TIMES & they insisted that i eat out of a styrofoam TO GO container because the kitchen made a mistake & packed the order to go. I was totally understanding of the mistake but IM DINING IN so just correct it, but no she INSISTED i take the styrofoam & just eat it, after i explained to them that I was asked MULTIPLE times was my order for here & every time the answer was YES…. Man, listen i’ll GLADLY take my service else where. REFUND FOR 1 PLEASE. Thank u. I work to hard for my money to continue to let these businesses charge FULL PRICE for what they’re selling but in return provide BELOW mediocre customer service. Honestly i should of never placed the order after the gentleman impatiently rushed me to order despite it being my 1st x at their establishment. Oh no sir. Im very cautious of where i spend my money. Unfortunately i never got to try the food. The service ALONE deserves NO STARS. I know when my money is not appreciated & please believe me when i tell u im totally OK w being ON...

I don't give one star reviews often but this place earned it! I've heard numerous good reviews about this place, local community swears by it. I stopped by yesterday afternoon for a to-go order. First, the old man has language barrier issues which contributed to me receiving the wrong menu item than what I ordered. This was not realized until the food made it all the way back home. I called to give them a heads up that I would be driving back and need my correct food. When I arrived to correct the order, the lady wanted me to pay $5 extra to correct their mistake. Until I explained multiple times that the receipt was correct, the order was not, and I left a tip. With the correct food in hand, I was excited- I love Chicken Katsu! I was dead wrong. The Katsu was flavorless, dry, and very low quality chicken (very fatty). The proportions of rice/veggies to meat was ridiculous for prices ($12.50+ for basic entree). The curry was the nastiest curry I've ever seen or tasted, canned/frozen tastes better and is more fresh. The lack of customer service and low quality of food all contribute to why I will never visit this locally owned...
