There might be more than a healthy bit of bias since I work here but allow me to explain. I have been in the coffee industry here in Houston in and out close to a decade. This cafe, although it's just starting out in this iteration, is one of the best cafe's I've ever worked in. The staff isn't new to the industry, it's some of the best -most experienced- baristas in the city with in depth knowledge of coffee that take it very very seriously. We are constantly checking water TDS, extraction percentages, brew ratios, and actually tasting our own coffee to ensure that the quality of the product meets the high expectations we have for it. All to say, we care about quality. We don't want to serve anything we wouldn't personally drink ourselves.
The business is family owned and one of the healthiest work environments I have ever worked in. They value me as a person and value my opinions while providing honest feedback. I really appreciate these people and want to see them succeed.
I also happen to roast some of the coffee. I can assure you that we are, without a modicum of doubt or pretension, some of the better coffee roasters in the city of Houston. Our head roaster even placed top ten in the COUNTRY in the last United States Roasters Competition this year. I don't say this to boast. I say it to prove my point, that it's just objective fact that we produce some of the best coffee in the city.
We are just getting started in the new space and would love to have you give us a try. We love coffee, we take it extremely seriously but we aren't trying to be pretentious. I tell people all the time that I only want to make the drink that you will most enjoy--however that may be. If you like a caramel macchiato, from Starbucks, I'll make you something similar if not better (cause I will be 100% certain the coffee will be objectively superior in quality).
We are just Houstonians trying to make your day better with a cup of coffee. I hope you will take the time to come by and visit us. Don't take my word for it that we care so much. Let us prove it to you. I'll see you...
Read moreAs a hardcore coffee enthusiast, Three keys is top of the bill in Houston and easily stands up to anywhere I've tried.
I'm partial to a cappuccino. An actual good cappuccino (not a slop of foam thrown over a bitter pulled shot) requires a great shot of espresso and a trained barista to ensure the milk is steamed and applied properly. Latte art finishes the presentation and tells you that you're working with a trained and experienced barista as it takes time to get right.
Three keys absolutely NAILS it. Top notch barista, beautiful presentation, coffee was absolutely delicious and a perfectly pulled shot.
My wife loved her matcha latte as well.
5 stars for 3 keys. Standards are everything. Keep this standard up and open...
Read moreGot my coffee from here after staying at a hotel 2 minutes away for 5 days. Although my hotel offered coffee at the restaurant and in-room, I still went here instead to get my morning cup daily. The crew is great and knowledgeable, and the coffee is amazing. The guys who greeted me were all friendly and super into coffee that it was well appreciated. The location inside Finn Food Hall was great and I enjoyed the elevated food hall experience. Suggestions were appreciated by the baristas and they care about your home brewing style while I was trying to figure out what whole beans to take home from this trip. Definitely would be a regular here if I lived...
