Updog HTX — Restaurant in Houston

Fantastic food from some of my favorite people! They’ve worked SO HARD at this and it’s all paid off tremendously: the burger (Labrador + cheese & jalapeños) was thick, tender, and juicy, with the jalapeños and onions both grilled (by request—highly recommended if you like that kind of thing!) balanced by a little lettuce and tomato…😚👌the only issue I had was keeping things from spilling down my forearms or into my lap; messy in the best kind of way! The fries were a great side dish and—made the steakhouse way (crispy and golden on the outside, squishy and steamy on the inside, and some seasoning)—retain their heat long enough to survive a little bit of transit (if you can refrain from eating them all on the way home). Tired of dry, boring burgers, the same old rubbery hotdogs, and tots/fries that make you miss your grade school lunch ladies’? Well lucky for you, these guys are open late, so stop by and find out...

I ate there with my 11 year old Sunday. He had the Burger with bacon, no chipotle mayo, and I had the H town hot chicken sandwich. He was disappointed that the burger patty was spicy and he had not been warned, nor was it stayed on the menu, he didn't want spicy which is why he asked for no chipotle mayo, the truffle fries he says were good flavor, but poor texture, soggy. I thought the chicken sandwich was pretty good and had the pickle chips. However I was doubled over throwing it back up 4 hours later. I don't know if it was good poisoning or not, but I hadn't been in contact with anyone who I knew was sick...... Very expensive(50 bucks) for a one bite of burger and a prayer at the porcelain throne. Hope others have better...

Don't expect them to be open according to their website which is 6pm. We've gone twice, once at 6:30 pm and 8:30 pm, they were closed both times. At 8:30 there was at least someone was there but we were told they'd be open in an hour or hour and a half ... really. No respect for the customer! Not sure if we'll try again...I doubt it.

UPDATE: since the 1 star originally gave, the website was updated with a new opening time (10pm). I decided to try one more time. Got there around 10:10 pm and they were open. Glad I decided to try again. The hotdog and tater tots were great!
