I hadn't been to this spot in some time, so I decided to go out with my sister and niece for a relaxed dinner. As expected, the place was crowded. However, the service was noticeably different from what I remembered. It seemed either short-staffed or disorganized.
We were seated in a booth with our backs to the bar, which was fine. Our server was friendly but appeared overwhelmed, likely due to having too many tables to attend to. It felt like there was a staffing issue in our section because getting her attention required significant effort on our part; she didn't have the time to check in on us naturally.
The food was a mixed bag. We ordered an appetizer of queso and chips, but the chips were so greasy that they glistened. My steak salad was a hit, my sister enjoyed her salmon, but my niece found the wings too greasy, similar to the chips.
Overall, it's an okay spot if you're in the mood to watch sports and get some decent food. However, the service needs improvement. Additionally, the way they served our drinks was startling and unprofessional. Since we were in a booth with our backs to the bar, they leaned over from behind us to hand us our drinks, which was unexpected and unsettling.
By the way, I couldn't tell you the names of the drinks because the options on their electronic pad include items they don't actually have. For example, they listed a blackberry daiquiri. When I ordered it, the server returned and apologized, saying they don't serve it. I pointed out that it was on the menu, so she went back to the bar and came back with the manager, who explained that the blackberry daiquiri is seasonal and currently unavailable. I found this frustrating because an electronic menu should be easy to update. Why list drinks that are no longer available?
Update â takeout is no better. 9/1/24
I ordered takeout from Duckworth's in Huntersville and opted for the Philly cheesesteak--or at least that's what it was supposed to be according to the menu. What I received, however, was the worst Philly cheesesteak sandwich I've ever had. The cheese was barely visible--I specifically asked for Cheez Whiz, and there were just tiny dots of it on each side. To top it off, the bread wasn't even toasted. I also ordered a side of fries, and they were so burnt, it was ridiculous. Needless to say, I put the bread in my own air fryer to toast it and had to take the meat off of the bread and add some American cheese to it just so that...
Read moremy family and I recently dined at Duckworths and unfortunately had the displeasure of being served by Angelina.Very disappointing experience. To start, she barely acknowledged our existence, opting instead to chat with her fellow servers as if we were invisible. When we finally managed to catch her attention, she responded with an eye roll and a sigh, as if our mere presence was inconveniencing her.
As for taking our orders, well, that was a comedy of errors. She managed to mix up every single item, resulting in a table full of dishes we didn't even order. And when we tried to point out her mistake, she brushed us off with a dismissive wave of her hand.
In summary, if you enjoy being treated like dirt by a waitress who couldn't care less about her job, then this is the place for you. But if you value even a modicum of respect and professionalism, do yourself a favor and steer clear of this culinary nightmare. You'll thank me later.
From the moment we sat down, her attitude was appalling. She was unbelievably rude and dismissive, making us feel unwelcome throughout the entire meal. Not only did she ignore our requests, but she also made condescending remarks whenever we tried to communicate with her. It's truly disappointing to encounter such unprofessional behavior, especially in a customer service role. I would strongly advise management to address Angelina's demeanor before it drives away more patrons
Her attitude was horrible and made my friends and I feel bad, almost like we were bothering her by being there. Itâs really a shame as we were really excited to try this restaurant out. The managers seriously need to sort out their staff situation because if ALL your servers are as rude as this one youâre going to lose a LOT of business. Never coming back again.
Itâs a shame that some people canât separate their personal problems even at work, knew her from high school and not sure what her problem with me had been and she was giving me dirty looks all night when i was simply trying to enjoy my night came out smiling from the kitchen after i ordered my food pretty sure she spit in it. Itâs absolutely ridiculous to me the level of pettiness someone will go to....
Read moreFirst time eating at this one. Was pretty crowded due to being New Yearâs Eve, but we got seated quickly. Waitress was very nice and got our drinks fast. My wife ordered Grouper Tacos and she said they were the top 3 best sheâs ever had. I got Buffalo Chicken Wrap. Was good but not great. A little too runny. I would probably try something different next time. Food order came out pretty fast for a busy holiday night. Great atmosphere with lots of TVs and plenty of beer choices.
5/28/23: went back and didnât have the best experience. Even though it was a holiday weekend, we went early enough that it wasnât too crowded yet. Got seated with our friends and our server came and got our drink order. When drinks came, we ordered our meals. My wife got the Cobb salad with grilled chicken. I got the Diner Burger. Mine was good. Her chicken was very tough and even hard to cut with her knife. So she didnât eat it, just the rest of the salad. Our server let our drinks run dry and didnât come check on our food. We arenât the kind of people that send our food back to be âfixedâ. Always been a little hesitant. But when the server did finally come back around, we asked for a discount on our bill. The manager discounted our bill $3. Really?? Most places would have given her a free meal and come to apologize. And itâs not like we didnât spend much (our bill was over $100). I donât think this will keep us from going back, but it wonât be anytime soon. Taking one star back from...
