Very disappointed. I’ve been coming to this restaurant over the years for the beautiful views. The food has been inconsistent, but good enough to return on occasion. But last night was my last visit. They’ve changed the menu and are trying to appear like an upscale tapas bar. Nothing wrong with that as long as the quality of the food matches the menu. But I ordered the Braised Chorizo described as “Chorizo Braised in Red Wine, Lemon Vinaigrette Ensalada, Crusty Bread ”. Well I’ll let the picture speak mostly for itself. Lost my appetite immediately, but got a good laugh out of it at least. Ate the bread (that I had to ask for) and a few bites of overly dressed salad. It’s really too bad: The location, view, and atmosphere are great, but they have to be paired with good food to get my business.

Such a beautiful view from the rooftop. My family and I came here to celebrate a birthday. We ordered wings, flatbread pizza and hamburger with fries. Everything was absolutely delicious, there is a bit of a wait due to the food coming from downstairs in the kitchen, but it was well worth it. The drinks were just as good. Our bartender/server was polite and kind.

The food was really good. The coconut shrimp appetizer and shrimp/sausage cheesy grits were absolutely delicious. The French toast was nothing fancy, but good nonetheless. Their expresso martini was the best I’ve ever had. The bartender was the only person working outside of the kitchen which made the wait time very challenging on Mother’s Day.

First and last experience. Positives first. The outside venue and seating is nicely decorated, nice overview of the park, and even though it’s an open area, the patio does have great heaters in the cooler months. This occurred on a Saturday evening, April 2022 at 530 with less than half the tables taken for reference.

Food? Edible at best. Five out of six meals were wrong. And those five were burgers. BURGERS. The only fries on the menus are “shoestring” fries. The server said whatever we have is what comes on the plate. She said it was currently steak fries, but standard comes with homemade chips. (Sub fries upcharge). They also have “homemade” bacon ($4) which I inquired about and added to my burger. When I got my food, the bacon was one and half pieces at most, thin, and tasted like it came from Burger King. My fries were room temperature, and they weren’t steak or shoestring. Perhaps something in between. Another one of us had the homemade chips (but actually ordered fries). The chips were nasty, Chewy and cold. I mean completely chewy. I asked for another order of fries and my friend asked for his order to be corrected and get fries. When we finally got them 20 minutes later, they were tasty and hot. But did nothing to resemble the previous order. So odd.

Burgers. Each one comes with “Mac sauce”, onions, pickles, tomatoes, lettuce. They conveniently left out all the pickles, onions, and Mac sauce from EVERY one. Mayo or mustard was never offered. Finally after waiting another 15 minutes for the condiments, we only got enough for four servings. How does that happen?!!!

If this AC Hotel cannot even get five burger orders right (couldn’t have made it easier for a party of 6!), I can’t imagine ordering something a chef actually has to make. There are many excellent places to eat in Huntsville, and this is not one of them. Save your time, $, and enjoy somewhere else.

Update 4-14-22 Management made contact and has assisted with trying another meal. Thankful for the opportunity and will...

Please don't n't fret There's always room for improvement.

I generally stay away from providing low or negative reviews, however I think it is a constructive set of observations that can help the BarVista team.

Improvement Areas:

2nd floor outside bar: upon arrival the staff did nkt seem to be thrilled and offered no welcome. I wanted to order a snack to eat since I had been traveling and working all day and had missed lunch. When I asked the young ladies about a menu the response was. "Sorry we don't have paper menus, use this QR code" Since I had been on the go for 15 hours my phones were in my room charging so I had no way to open the menu. Instead of sending me away hungry they could have offered to let me browse the menu on their phones since there were no other customers.

Hours later I came back and had the 🍿 popcorn shrimp. They did not taste good and were soft fried. 😔

1st floor bar: I wanted to watch the game for a bit since I have allergies, but the inside bar has no TV visible from the counter. When I asked the bartender she barely acknowledged me and seemed annoyed that I was even talking to her even though the bar only had two other customers. She didn't seem to want me there so I went outside.

Good Stuff: The guy outside with the long beard seemed like a seasoned bartender. He answered questions on BarVista's stock of beverages and offered alternatives because they were out of things I was familiar with.

The manager: I was able to chat with the manager thanks to one of the bartender ladies who was in a good mood. He was working cleaning up, but he listened to my concerns and welcomed...

Our experience here was just bad. We attempted to enter from street level as we are not hotel guests. The elevator doesn’t work. We entered the lobby where three hotel employees behind the front desk were informed of the non-functioning elevator and all three shrugged their shoulders. The view is great and that sums up all that is great about Bar Vista. There were pieces of construction trim tossed in the flower beds making it feel like the undone, unorganized, mess of a place this establishment is. Despite the website touting the credentialed chefs, the food was totally ok in both presentation and flavor. But that was all still better than the service. Two separate servers could not explain why the margarita we ordered was orange. We did not ever receive the glasses of wine we ordered to accompany our food while the empty glasses from our first drinks sat on our table. This place will survive because it’s inside a hotel. We live downtown and will never return. I wanted to sample this establishment thinking it would be a nice place to entertain customers. I am beyond glad I did because I will never bring one of my customers here to experience the complete lack of service or initiative on any part of any employee from start to finish. So, for that...
