To preface, it was their grand opening weekend so I’m sure they’ll work out some kinks, but there were some pretty glaring issues. Personally, TLDR, as the target demographic and someone who was counting down until they opened - I don’t have plans to go back and I wouldn’t really recommend to girlfriends. Fine experience, but overpriced and lackluster drinks/service.
Cons: Before we even had a chance to look at the menu or really get to look around, they were very pushy about leaving a 5 star review in exchange for a free lemon drop shot? In general, I find it pretty tacky when businesses use this practice, especially when I couldn’t rate them as I hadn’t even tried a drink? After multiple attempts, we eventually had to firmly tell them, no thank you, we’re not interested in a free shot, for them to drop the topic. Staff seemed inexperienced and overwhelmed, couldn’t speak to the menu very well and it was a fairly straight-forward, no frills cocktail/wine list. Also some were dressed up in very nice shirts and slacks, which really fit the theme while others were in shorts, crop tops and flannels? Cocktails are nothing to write home about. We had the espresso martini (which had no foam top or espresso beans and was pretty strong) and the old fashion (it was fine, but a little sweet) and each were $15.00 dollars which, in my opinion, is overpriced at this establishment. They don’t make the drink, as all cocktails are batched & on tap, which I don’t mind when done well, but this fell very short of a good drink or aesthetic.
Pros The decor is genuinely beautiful, and feels very 90s inspired. Wish the staff had a uniform or some form of dress code though! I believe it’s a local small, woman owned business which is a great addition to the HSV area and for the opening weekend, they collaborated with other woman owned businesses!
Overall, it was a fine experience, not the worst, but not enough to go back even though I am the target demographic. If I wanted a good cocktail, I’d walk across the street to SIP or go to Nitrotales in Providence for a funky, on tap cocktail experience. Both places have similarly priced drinks, but much better...
Read moreAbsolutely obsessed with The Dirty Olive! From the moment you walk in, you’re wrapped in this chic, moody atmosphere that just screams sophistication. The attention to detail in the decor is insane — velvet seating, dim golden lighting, and a stunning marble bar that instantly sets the tone.
The cocktails? Next level. Hands-down the best I’ve ever tasted — perfectly balanced, bold, and dangerously smooth. The classic dirty martini, cosmo, marg, or espresso martini the mixologist clearly knows what they’re doing. Every drink was a work of art, and FROM A TAP. Super cool!
Service was flawless — attentive and the staff had great recommendations without making us feel rushed.
This place is perfect for date nights, classy catch-ups, or anytime you want to feel a little extra. Definitely my new go-to bar in town. Cheers to The Dirty Olive for raising the bar...
Read moreMy first impression of the Dirty Olive was very cute, chic, love love the decor and the ambience. The owners, Emily and Matt were very accommodating, friendly, and welcoming. The cocktails on top were really good. I had the espresso martini which was great . I also had a sparkling rosé and a lemon drop shot which was the best. I will definitely go back and I recommend it to all. For as food wise, only have charcuterie boards, but you can bring in your own food or have...
