AJ's at The Alley Hutchinson — Restaurant in Hutchinson

I would give this half a star if I could.

We went to AJ's when they first opened and had a not great experience, two years later we decided to try it again because we heard the food and service had gotten way better. We were extremely disappointed.

We sat down and had our drink orders taken immediately. 20 minutes later the waitress came back with them. 15 minutes later we ordered. The waitress said this was her second shift of the day, so we knew they were understaffed. That's fine, stuff like that happens and we were in no hurry. But lets be clear- we had been there over 30 minutes before we ordered. Then we ordered and the long wait began. The waitress never came back to refill drinks and we never saw her except about 30 minutes later when we were finally able to flag her down. We informed her we had been there over an hour and no one had even come to check on us. That's when she got snippy. We asked for drink refills and she brought us one water. There were 7 of us total and several people were drinking alcoholic beverages. One water is all she brought us. She must have told the floor manager we had been waiting for a while because another woman came out to tell us there were 10 orders in front of ours, but she put our orders in next. She noticed most of us were out of drinks so she refilled them. We got our food about 10 minutes later and it was okay. It was warm at least.

If at any point and time they had informed us the kitchen was really backed up, or had at least kept the drinks flowing, we probably would have been okay. But everyone acted like it was our fault for not being patient enough. There was a pretty huge debacle with the checks that I won't even go into. Let's just say we didn't pay anything for our dinner. In all we spent over 2 hours at the restaurant and I don't think we will...

The food wasn't terrible but the time it takes for services is ridiculously long. We've been here twice so I was thinking maybe we just came at a slow time but there is a game playing and it is very prime hours of meal time. It still took 30 minutes for them to notice that we had seated. It took another 20 minutes to get our appetizers and after that we had to wait another 20 or 30 minutes just to take the remainder of our order and then another way to get the food. After that we waited for about 30 minutes to pay and I was half tempted to just leave since I didn't think they would have even noticed. If it wasn't for the child I had with me that happened to have been unhappy with the situation and screamed I think we still would have been waiting for the check.

The wait staff was friendly when we did talk to them and the restaurant itself wasn't bad. They just need to figure out staffing a bit more so the wait time isn't as ridiculous, however, if you can find yourself getting lost in a sports game that's on the TV. Then the wait...

We have had a problem twice with getting served in a timely manner. The wair staff was extremely slow. The last time we came to bowl and were going to eat 1st. It was slightly before noon on a sunday. It was not extremely busy and we were seated and had to wait a long time to get water and menus. Then it was probably a half hour before we were asked if we wanted to order. Then we ordered sandwiches . It was another 35 minutes before we got one delivered to our table then another 10 minutes till I got my sandwich. By the time we ate we had been in the restaurant an hour and forty minutes. There was one group at a table about ten people who got in after us and were served before us and got beers several times before we were taken care of. I believe that is horrible service and will probably only order from the snack bar or just eat somewhere else when we bowl which is...
