I don't know if this is a Cox company issue or a specific store issue, but my order (with a limited time discount offer) didn't show up in the system, and then I waited an hour and a half to receive a significantly worse internet plan than what I had agreed to (as in, before I came to the store to pick up my equipment), for a higher cost. Fortunately, when I took their advice and called Cox afterward, I was able to get the original plan again. Also, the customer service person on the phone told me that my plan wasn't supposed to have been changed like it was in the store. I don't want to blame the employees for this, as I think they did really try to fix my situation at the store, but it wasn't a good time. Either the employees need to have permission to give me my original plan or they should know that they should just call the same person I called, so that both they and the customer don't waste a ton of time.
Also, I was just there to get equipment. Do your own research before going to the store, because they tried to convince me that my 300 mbps (which everyone online says is plenty good enough for 1 person and indeed is working well as I'm typing this) wouldn't be fast enough and also that I should consider switching my phone plan to Cox.

All worked well for two weeks and then sometimes no internet at all, and sometimes so slow was not usable for about 5 days. When we called Cox in Hutchinson Kansas and the person said they would come but could have a $50 charge if the service person had to come into the house. Then 10 minutes later the Hutchinson store manager called and said we would owe $100 no matter where the problem was, even if it was outside on COX wire. I call Cox tech support and they said no charge if problem was on COX side, and they wanted to transfer me to customer loyalty department for the record. Customer loyalty department said COX charges $100 for all service calls to the property even if it is in the COX owned wires for the length of our contract. So COX own people do not know what the policies are. The Hutchinson Kansas store manager said plug into different wire, or just bring it back, he could not care less about customers. If there is any other options use someone other than COX. We have internet only and would never use them for...

This company charges WAY too much. I pay $160 a month for our internet and we STILL have constant problems with throttling and outages. They try to act like they fixed an outage sometimes when they didn't as well.
About two months ago there was an outage in my area that the site said had been addressed and fixed. Yet we continued to have problems for HOURS afterwards. When I contacted customer service I just kept being told that there was no outage as I was constantly disconnected from the chat. Then almost an hour into trying to get the issue fixed, someone FINALLY admitted there was an outage and got someone out.
I am only a Cox customer because there is no better option. The SECOND that Ideatek is available in my area I am gone.
Edit 11 months after initial review: Just want to say that Ideatek became available in my area in December. I literally called to switch within hours of seeing their truck in my area. Have had their internet for almost 4 months now. It's faster and cheaper than what we were paying for fast internet through cox. The internet has also been FAR...
