My review comes from a special place. I am 43 years old and I recently went to Cedrics with my wife. I have memories of going here with my mom and her sisters as a very small child in the 80's a lot...we moved away for a while and I missed Idaho Falls so much. It was refreshing to me to see that Cedrics still looks almost exactly like it did back when I was a child. I love nostalgia and it's rare to have a place take you back like this place does. Back to my review...I took my wife there on Sunday and I have to say we had the best experience ever. We had no wait, our waitress was very nice, and the food was amazing in every way. I wish we took pics. I had a French dip. I'm kinda a French dip snob. This was #1 I've had...maybe ever. The meat was melt in your mouth soft and flavorful, the bread was perfect, but the au jus was amazing. You could tell it was homemade. My wife got a sandwich that must have come from heaven. The Turkey bacon avacado melt. Perfect in every way. They both came with fries that were to die for. Way better than we were expecting. It was kind of spendy (about $32 for 2 people) but everything is now a days. My only complaint is that the ice tea was from a fountain and not fresh brewed. We will be back often. I hope Cedrics...
Read moreIt's a Family restaurant, Diner type place. I was extremely disappointed to be charged $2.77 for rye toast when the menu indicated the meal I chose came with my choice of Pancakes or toast for other bread items. The waitress did not point out they charge extra for rye toast. I certainly would never have ordered a side of toast for the price I can buy an entire loaf of bread for. When I pointed it out at the cash register, the person processing my car just shrugged and acted like it was no big deal so I did try to remedy it before I left the restaurant. The chicken fried steak was good, but I've had far better. I asked the waitress for a to-go box and my ticket because I had to get back on the road. She brought the to-go box and then I never saw her again so I had to go up to the cash register and wait for someone to show up there and then they had to go find her to get my ticket so it took an extra 15 minutes to get out of the restaurant that I didn't have to spare! Thinking I was choosing a restaurant next to the interstate so I wouldn't have a lot of delay was a big mistake I guess. Very overpriced meal for late breakfast when you add in the extra I was charged for the toast! Definitely would not choose this...
Read moreIn my experience small cafes are normally the best places to eat. If the locals love it, its usually a safe bet for some good food and service. Not sure what was going on this last Saturday night! Our first and last time at this diner. They advertised prime rib special on the weekends. We ordered 3 prime rib dinners. Got our salads never got our drinks....then 20 mins in we were told they were out of prime rib. So we reordered...3 totally different meals. Got our waters finally. Then came to find out they were out of baked potatoes...so mashed it is. Now out of brown gravy...okay white instead. Anything else?...I give my meatloaf and potato a D rating. The meatloaf had a hard crust from sitting under a warmer too long. My potatoes had hard spots throughout, for the same reason. The waitress tried, but she was stressed handling too many tables and obviously there was no communication with the kitchen as to what food they actually had available. We eneded up waiting close to an hour to actually get our meal. Then the checkout process took another 15 mins, they couldn't get the ticket processed properly and had to call for help with it 3 times. Nice effort but...
