I'm not certain where to begin. We Googled places to eat in Boise with entertainment. These guys had axe throwing lanes. We went in and asked if we could be seated where Axe throwing was occurring. We were told no, and wasn't allowed if we weren't throwing axes. Fine, no problem. We were seated elsewhere in the establishment. We opened the menus and immediately was greeted by the management. He noticed we carried in our own bottled water and claimed that we were "not allowed" to bring in outside drinks because of Idaho State Police liquor laws. Well, unbeknownst to him my very best friend Hugh is an ISP officer in liquor enforcement, and I texted him and respectfully requested this information. He said there is no law pertaining to outside water but referred me to the State website. I researched it and wow, we are allowed to bring in water or other beverages except hard alcohol or beer. Wine is allowed but is preference whether the establishment wants to charge a "corking" fee. We only purchased a soft drink (pepsi) and requested our tab to pay. I paid, then I approached the manager on staff and informed him that his rules are "false" and he should know the real laws pertaining to Establishments in Idaho that serve alcohol. We departed and went over to the "Goodwood" barbecue and was greeted by the management who said we could "absolutely" bring in our outside bottled water!!!! Thus the 1 star 🌟 review. Btw.... this is my first ever one star because I don't like small town Police officers giving out unnecessary tickets!!! 😒 I'll never return.
Soooo.... I see where the owner came on immediately and replied to my review. I decided to jump back on here and "CLARIFY" a couple items. First, yes I came in with an "UpTime" energy whereas I was literally being watched by this "manager" as I was required to finish this drink in front of him as if I'm a teenager. The drink I'm "specifically" referring to is my bottle of natural mineral water that I respectfully requested if I could drink it while eating a meal (if I was going to stay and order) and was specifically informed that it was a "Idaho State Law" that no outside beverages are allowed in an establishment that served alcohol or drinks. I again, messaged my good friend Hugh, who in fact works for the "Idaho State Police" liquor control division and he specifically said he was not aware of any law stating this and referred me to the State website for the FACTS. Fact-1, there is no law that restricts bringing in an outside water for a patron to consume, Fact-2, All this gentleman needed to do was say, "its our preference that we don't allow outside beverages inside our establishment" and I would have been perfectly fine with this rule of law. But it's the fact that he treated me as if I was a little child and it's not the type of treatment I prefer. Upon my departure, I informed him he was WRONG about the Idaho State law and he should know his FACTS prior to running his mouth. The "Goodwood barbecue" restaurant had absolutely no problem with us bringing in our outside water and welcomed us with open arms and we felt appreciated. Now, I'm certain that the owner is going to jump back on here and once again "twist" the facts, but the fact remains, I'm the customer who WAS going to spend some of my money there but didn't, and never...
Read moreWe held a company party at Base Camp in February. The team at Base Camp opened during their off-hours (noon to 4 PM on a Wednesday) to accommodate our group, which included lunch, an axe tournament, drinks, and ping pong.
We had a fabulous time. The staff trained us well and then facilitated an axe-throwing tournament. The tournament paired up two people from our team at a time, rotating the pairs each round. This meant we got to throw with people in the company that we might not normally cross paths with, providing fantastic opportunities for team bonding and team building.
Throwing an axe isn't a difficult skill to learn (difficult to master, for sure), so everyone on the team saw some success during the tournament. The two "coaches" from Base Camp would provide tips during the tournament to help anyone who might be struggling to hit the targets successfully, which was super nice.
Food and drinks were served promptly. Everyone enjoyed the food. It's casual fare, but it fit the venue and lunchtime well. The staff also accommodated a table for an anniversary cake and gift bags for those attending.
The Axe Room was well suited for a group of about 18 people. I'm sure we could have fit in a few more people, but the size of the room was perfect for our group to socialize and throw axes. After the tournament, several people moved out to the Ping Pong area. The Base Camp staff continued to provide drinks service while we wound down our event.
As an added bonus, the location had plenty of parking and was conveniently located close to downtown, which made it easy for all our team to get there.
I would highly recommend Base Camp Pong + Axe to anyone looking for a company or team event that was perfect not only for socializing but also for some fun physical activity for any...
Read moreMan I could not be more disappointed in this place.
We arrived at 5:30 asking to get in. The man behind the desk kindly told us there was a wait and if we put our names down, we would be able to get in around 8:30, if we were back by 8... but with no guarantees that we would get in - if someone were to walk in ahead of us. So what is even the point of putting our name down if someone can swoop your spot at any moment. We put our name down. We then went and grabbed dinner, and returned a little before 8. The guy had us pay up front, and then said the room would be ready in 30 minutes like he had promised. 30 minutes go by and we don't hear anything from any staff. It's now been 45 minutes and a staff member came up and said your room would be ready in 5 minutes......another 20 minutes go by nothing. THEN it's a little past 9 and we see a group of 6 people with no reservation get into the room before we even had a chance to get in. We asked the staff what was going on, and our "arena" was being cleaned and was going to take another 5 minutes, and that the party that arrived was larger. Basically, don't go here. They just take larger parties to make more money and forget about other customers. The drinks are overpriced, and the atmosphere is dull. I miss Cheerleaders. I find it ironic they have a motto for "excellent service" when it took them almost an hour and a half to even get us in - promising us every 5 minutes it was almost done. After fighting, they took forever to give us a refund because we had lost the time we needed. They also...
