Our family of four (w/ 2 very small kids) stayed here for a week and could not have been happier with our 1 bedroom (King) suite. It felt like we had our own apartment in downtown Boise.
Room: The suite was very spacious, clean and had all we needed for the week we were here. Two tv’s for our downtime (one for the kids in the living, and one for us in the bedroom). Fridge, stovetop, dishwasher to have some meals in the room. Table with for stools. They provided a portable play pen for our smallest child. We were on the ninth floor corner, and the room feels better than what I would expect in a Residence Inn. It exceeded our expectation.
Service: Exceptional. I had to call the front desk two or three times prior to booking/arrival and the staff was very patient, friendly, and helpful. Upon arrival, we had the same experience with every interaction (desk, cleaning, bartender, and other personnel). Cleaning could have come by a bit more frequently, but when they came by they did a great job. I’m not sure if this is because of Covid or because of how long our stay was, but minor issue for us and only a note and not a complaint.
Parking: $15 a night, but we avoided this with one of their package deals when booking directly through the Marriott app. Parking was tight though. Any 3/4 ton and bigger trucks may want to consider the overflow lot. Garage fills up quickly in the evening, so there’s a good chance you’ll end up a block away. Luckily, it’s an easy walk, and reception confidently said they hadn’t had any issues with theft on that lot.
Amenities: Indoor pool appeared nice. Fairly good work out room with some free weights and a few other exercise machines. Nice outdoor patio. The small bar downstairs was operation this week during our stay.
Location: Perfect. I could get just about anywhere within 10 minutes by car or walking. Plenty of food, coffee shops, groceries, parks nearby. Trader Joe’s next door. Boise just rocks in general with ease of getting around and in/out.
COVID : I felt they did a great job. Plenty of reminders to mask/distance. All personnel were masked at all times. Guests were about 90% masked indoors. Boise in general is more laid back about it (part of the appeal to me honestly), so once you are outside the door of the hotel you see all levels of adherence. So while I did see a few guests consciously not wearing, they were infrequent. It was apparent that a minority of other guests were perturbed by this lack of full compliance as seen in other reviews, and at least one guest who attempted to vent this to me in the elevator. So if you’re looking for 100% compliance, this place (Boise) in general may not be your cup of tea. However, I believe the hotel has made a genuine effort in trying to abide by CDC recommendations. I honestly think that the lack of full on masking regionally is the cause of this, not the hotel staff. After a week here, I was struggling to remember to grab my mask upon leaving...
Read moreThe positives: This hotel is in a great location. Trader Joe's is across the street, and many delicious restaurants and city highlights are within easy walking distance. It is very nice to have a kitchenette! Feather free bedding was requested and provided before we arrived, yay! We ran out of tissues right away, but 2 boxes were brought quickly upon request. A foot ledge is provided in the shower to make shaving/washing easier. The room is laid out well, with a separate area for makeup/hair, at least, that's how I've used it, but the lighting isn't great. There is a full-length mirror, in a convenient location. You won't be able to see your back side in any mirror here without a hand mirror. There is a nice hair dryer, as well as an iron and ironing board (small)
The negatives: All the possible lighting for makeup is extremely yellow. The refrigerator runs constantly turning on and off. The ceiling smoke detector light is very visible from the bed at night and blinks. The toilet is noisy/running, perhaps leaking? and there's no fan to ventilate if necessary. Although there is a venting shaft. There are two lights on each side of the bed (yay for having 2!) but sadly they are both bright, though they are of different temperatures. The heater/air con doesn't cool/heat to selected temp. It cools/heats until you've had enough and turn it to the opposite... Or turn it to fan only, which would shut off in the middle of the night, when I woke up stuffy, I would turn it back on and it would last the rest of the night. The room is serviced every third day. The shower is a fixed head, quite high, with no hand wand. A challenge for ladies who don't want to get their hair wet, but great for tall men. There is only a single control for the shower, so you can only control temperature, not flow and there's a lot of flow! Bring a shower cap if you care about your hair do. And again, there is no fan and the bathroom gets very steamy. There are also no amenities other than soap, shampoo, conditioner, and hand soap for the sink. I was very glad that I brought hand lotion. Tips: I recommend bringing a battery operated candle for the bathroom at night. The door opens directly onto the bed, and both of the lights in the bathroom are very bright. There is no makeup mirror, so bring one if you need one. An eye mask would help with the blinking light from the smoke detector, and with the bathroom light if you're traveling with someone and you forget to bring a battery candle for...
Read moreExquisite, beautiful, modern, high-rise hotel located in the center of downtown Boise! This hotel is one my favorite hotel properties (I travel extensively). In fact, Boise is one of my favorite cities! I have visited Boise and the Residence Inn twice. Each visit and stay has been perfection! The hotel facilities are beautiful and completely immaculate. I am unsure of the hotel's exact age, but it appears and feels brand new. The Residence Inn is an extended stay hotel and provides excellent accommodations and amenities for guests having extended stays. Even if your stay is brief, you will most certainly enjoy this facility. My guestroom during each visit was larger than an average hotel guestroom. Both of my assigned guestrooms had a very comfortable king size bed, numerous large windows with great views of downtown and the surrounding mountains. My guestrooms also included large flat screen TV, full size kitchen with utensils, bar table with chairs, work desk and sofa, and a huge bathroom. The bathroom includes a wonderful, large, glass shower. When it comes to the hotel's location, it has "location, location, location." You absolutely can not beat the hotel's convenient location. There is a tremendous selection of dining, shopping and entertainment options available surrounding the hotel, all within walking distance. In fact, there is a movie theater located directly across the street. Within a short walk distance from the hotel, you will find museums, historic venues, Zoo Boise and a beautiful rose garden and park open to the public. Naturally, although the park is great year round, try to visit when the roses are in bloom! On top of all the excellent hotel amenities and features, the hotel's staff associates are fantastic! From check in to check out, every associate I had the pleasure of encountering was friendly, attentive and professional. Each individual associate was very knowledgeable about the city of Boise, and all the activities around the hotel. I must also add Boise and the hotel's immediate neighborhood is safe and clean! It is actually safe and enjoyable walking to all activities outside of the hotel. I can't say enough great things about this hotel! It receives my highest recommendation. Thank you to the entire staff for making both my visits to...
