I often give 4 to 5 stars for chain. As my expectations are lower. I must admit, the following review would not have been so bad if only, we had face, just some expected downside.
Poorest service I faced in a steak and shake, and maybe in USA. I do love that franchise, the food is ok and I sort of cherished the family atmosphere... This particular location was always a favorite as it was where I tried those famous shake for the first time.
Today was not great at all. The staff really makes us feels like we bothered them by being a customer.
We waited 5minutes in the lobby and had to go get someone to seat us. After a long moment waiting we decided to go grab our own menus ...
When ordering, the waitress seemed detached and not focus on us. We had to repeat several time our orders. She came back confirming to us what we ordered.
We saw our plates being place on the shelf to be served. All the staff was drinking milk shake in a corner. After 7minutes I decide to tell them our food was hanging alone and getting cold...
I can't give 0 stars, but the liberal state of the restaurant is scary. We spend almost 1h. The dirty table in the attached photos stayed in the shape the whole time.
The most amazing and actually seriously puzzling situation was the service tray. I saw the staff using the same dirty tray over and over. Never cleaning the old fries on it. Charming. Yes old fries. As in probably hours left on.
I won't share the photos of the mens bathroom. Because nobody would ever walk in that restaurant.
Maybe a day off for the staff but seriously not sure I will come back again any time soon. We over heard a conversation in witch the waitress wondered why she did not get that many tips... Bravo captain obvious.
Also, you don't yell at a customer, no matter how right you were in that situation.
That to say, with my wife we may never walked into a S&S ever as that overall experience was disastrous.
We get it, it is a chain of diner food. We don't expect much... But even the bare minimum...
Read moreI wish I could give this a no star. This was a good place until this morning. I come here all the time for the breakfast tacos or the breakfast bowl. This Sunday (12-2-18) morning was the worst visit I made to this location. I went for the drive thru and ordered 5 sausage n' cheese eggs taco's for .99 cents each. The order taker told me the cost of $8.07, I thought that 'not right. 99 cents for 5 breakfast taco's should be about $5.00 without tax. I drove up to the window and the order taker told me the cost for the 5 breakfast taco's were $8.07. I've explained to the order taker that these are on your menu for .99 cents . The order taker told me that they added .50 cents for cheese for each taco. I told this person that is not the case. The breakfast tacos are .99 cent that includes cheese. and with no response from the order taker. I drove from the drive and went inside looking for the breakfast menu. I asked for the manager. The cashier told me that the manager is there talking with the cook. To my surprise . The manager was the order taker at the drive thru! I thought OMG! The manager came to me and was sorry and your comment was "I don't do breakfast" My reply to the manager "You don't know your menu". You are the manager (name Depasse) of this store (#24) and don't know your menu!" Please, you just ruined my Sunday morning . Thank you Stake n' Shake! I called the customer service the same day and got a cold response , they don't care!!!. I'm mailing this message to Stake n' Shake corporate HQ Indianapolis offices, 107 S. Pennsylvania, Ste 400, Indianapolis, In 40204. A waste of time. No reply what so ever, It's about making money from us suckers that goes to Steak n Shake. I wish they could go out of business. That would be...
Read moreYou probably won't believe my experience last night, but its true, and this is how it went. It was 2:01 AM when I pulled up behind 2 cars waiting to place their orders. There were probably six cars in line total. My wife was home in bed, so I was in no hurry. I eventually was able to place my order for a double steak burger with cheese, everything on it, and fries. It took literally 45 minutes to pull up to the window and pay. I could see in to the restaurant a bit and saw no one sitting at tables. What I did see was 6 or 7 bags of filled orders sitting on the counter. I was then told to pull forward to the waiting spot, and that they would bring me my food. (Remember now that my order consisted of a burger and fries). It was technically Christmas eve, and I was in a good mood, so I played with the stereo and now considered this experience as a challenge to my patience. So at this point, it had been an hour and ten minutes, there was NO ONE inside other than 3 employees. So I called them to inquire as to what was going on, and there was no answer. I called again 2 minutes later, and finally someone picked up. I asked him if everything was ok, and that I was still waiting for my food. I was then told to park and come inside. At this point, I'm expecting for someone to jump out with a video camera and tell me that I was being pranked. I went inside and after another 5 minutes, I was handed my food. I smiled, (I really did), and mentioned that it had been one hour and twenty three minutes since I had ordered. The man turned and walked away mumbled sorry. This is an accurate account of my experience. I haven't called a manager yet, but I will. What used to be a great burger joint that I have frequented for 50 years is now an embarrassment. I am so...
