So I'm going to start by saying that this place was amazing for an immersive experience in watching The Matrix movie.
The only thing I really have to complain about isn't about the Cosm itself, but the traffic/traffic controllers hired for SOFI during our event time at the Cosm. The only reason I mention this was because it brought me to so much irritation before our experience here at the Cosm. We really had such a great experience at the Cosm as soon as we went thru security, which I appreciate because we were so infuriated with our experience outside. So we were told in the email to park in parking lot 3 which is adjacent to the Cosm. We arrived right when the Sofi football game was exiting 4pm (our event was at 5pm) and every entry point to parking lot 3 was inaccessible. There was one parking lot across from the Cosm that the rate was $100 total. Its not a Cosm parking lot and we did not know if they would validate in this parking lot. The traffic getting in was terrible due to an exiting football event. We arrived an hour early to be safe and still barely made it on time. The traffic controllers hired by SoFi were unhelpful in getting to the Cosm. We saw signs everywhere that said "Cosm this way" but entry was blocked. We tried to follow all these signs at 3 different entry points and only ended up at roadblocks at each one. We asked one traffic controller how we could get to the cosm since every entry was blocked off, he said "you just have to find a way." So i found a way, a way that was blocked. I argued with the traffic controllers explaining that we paid for an experience at the cosm and I needed to park. They put cones in front of my car and blocked me. I proceeded to get out and argue with them about the event we had and how they were all being nearly impossible to deal with and I needed access to the area to park. Eventually someone told them to let us in to turn right. This turn only allowed us to reach that same parking lot we passed across from the Cosm. 4 more cars were behind us also trying to access the cosm parking. We ended up at a parking lot across the cosm (not parking lot 3) and asked the attendant if we can park here for the cosm because structure 3 was blocked off. He told us we could, we just needed to get validation or pay $100. He told us they just closed structure 3 and you couldn't get in there due to Sofis exiting event. My frustration with getting in kind of ruined the experience and I didnt want to come back to this place. Or at least come back at any time that there is a Sofi event.
But let me tell you, as soon we hit the security entrance for the Cosm, my mood changed. I explained to the security guard about the parking situation to ensure that parking could be validated and she explained that the parking lot we parked at was not for the Cosm but explained they could validate. I explained what happened and she was so sweet in just listening me out and confirming that it was okay. We were checked in and proceeded to head into the movie. Every single staff I encountered was so friendly, nice, and attentive. We had 2 managers check in with us during our stay to ensure everything was great! The movie experience was amazing. We ordered popcorn, drinks, and a hot honey pizza. All were amazing! I loved having a server during the movie like if we were at a restaurant. We sat in level 3 booth 1a and they were good seats! I do think I would come back and sit in level 2 which seems the most immersive. I want to say thank you the Cosm for such a great experience after a rocky start outside of this place. You can tell this place puts effort into customer service and trying to create an overall great experience.
My only suggestion would be to recommend that Cosm work something out with the traffic control staff/Sofi to create an entrance for the Cosm where the traffic controllers can see/check passes for the Cosm experience to allow people to enter a certain way. I understand they are trying to get people out of the Sofi event but there are plenty of other...
Read moreMyself and three friends attended The Matrix event on Friday, June 27 at 7pm.
Our experience was pretty abysmal. From the get go, I'd purchased 3 seats for The Matrix event on the 3rd level (there are 3 levels of seats). When I'd purchased seats, only the 3rd level ones were left available. However, three days later I received an email from Cosm telling me that the tickets I'd purchased shouldn't have been available to purchase in the first place. Three days to tell me that is a ridiculous response time to begin with.
They offered me a voucher for a future event and I used it to grab 3 tickets for the same Matrix event on the same night at the same time. Three new seats directly next to the 3 original seats I'd purchased. My fourth friend had purchased a singular seat elsewhere on the 3rd level and did not run into this ticketing issue. Each ticket purchased was $55.
Unfortunately, the display does not encapsulate all of the seating available. We did not know this as we have never been to Cosm and they absolutely do not make it clear on their website or seating map that there are a large number of seats that do not reside inside the dome area to get the "shared reality" experience. In fact, I would say 80% of the 3rd level seats are not within the "shared reality" area to get the effect.
I have attached photos of the seat map with overlays to show where our seats were. Unfortunately, there is a large overhang on the left side for some additional seats that entirely blocks a large portion of the screen. To be perfectly honest, it blocked so much of the screen I'm amazed Cosm is even allowed to sell tickets for those seats at all.
Thankfully, no one else had purchased tickets for the left side of the 3rd level (perhaps because people have already been to an event here and learned the same hard lesson), so we relocated to where our 4th friend was seated which was on that overhang. This overhang somewhat is enclosed by the "shared reality" screen so for we did get some of the effect, but it was marginal. Not to mention, there's a railing system on the wall that blocked a huge chunk of the actual movie screen itself. So I had to watch The Matrix through the railing.
As if to make matters worse, the seating for a lot of the 3rd level is just bar stools. I've included a photo of them as well. Sitting on an uncomfortable bar stool to watch a 2+ hour movie is just downright ridiculous for $55. After an hour of the movie went by, we took note of two separate 6 person booths that remained empty. Clearly no one was showing up for those. So we asked multiple staff members, including a manager, if we could relocate to one of the booths since they were entirely unoccupied. We were told "no" by every single one of them because "well, the people could just be running late". Even if that were the case, we made it clear to staff that if people did indeed show up, we would have no problem moving right back to our original area on the overhang. We were still told "no". Those booths remained empty for the entire movie. What a waste.
Something else I wasn't expecting was that the screen area is not an enclosed space. It is entirely open to where you enter the Cosm building. That means there is literally nothing to prevent sound from traveling. Throughout the movie we were disrupted by every single sound, whether it was bartenders making drinks, doors opening and closing, staff members having conversations (mind you I'm not blaming the staff for having a conversation, they were plenty far away; but the layout simply meant that you can hear every single sound). It was incredibly distracting.
I got a single beer and a smash burger and paid $45 in total for both. That is stadium sporting event pricing for a mediocre burger.
The fact that any of the bar stool seating is sold for $55 and none of it gets the "shared reality" effect is an outright scam. This was one of the worst experiences I've had in a while and I will genuinely never be attending another Cosm event...
Read moreTo start off, I saw a video of this on tik tok and thought it was AI. Once I saw they were doing the "Orbital" showing for a few months and for 'select' times, I felt the urgency to buy tickets. Also because the only weekend time slot left was Sunday at 10:30am. I took my girlfriend, we arrived about 10:15am. I did think it was weird I did not choose my seat but I figured they know how many seats there are and I'm sure they will fill the room to where there are no empty seats... w r o n g. We arrived and I was very shocked to see a really long line outside the venue so close to showtime. We parked in the complex across the street, that was very empty by the way. We stood in line and I asked a nice girl behind me if she was there for the Orbital 10:30 showing.. she said yes. I was confused.. Not only was it past our showing time, but the line looked like it was going to take at least another 15 minutes. So, we waited..
We reached the entrance at about 10:45 & were told the next showing would be at 11:15am and that we weren't guaranteed we would all fit since the showings were sold out due to walk ins.. Again.. I was so confused. The website did not mention this at all and I bought a time slot?? how can a walk in get in before me? whats the point of getting the time slot? People started freaking out and lining up inside the venue, by the stairs to the entrance of the Dome to get a guaranteed entrance. we considered leaving but we drove an hour to see this show, and we were already there. so we decided to stay. we could not go to the restaurant or get drinks because we did not want to loose our spot in this indoor line that was now expanding to the outdoor seating area. not one worker tried to organize us or tell us they would call us by time slot.. idk some semblance of organization. They just let us all line up.
Once the line finally started to move, many people who were waiting by the restaurant rushed the line and no one did anything about it. not the workers, not the people standing in line... luckily we got in either way but it was really bad. It was super unorganized, and no one seemed to have any answers other than telling us the next showing time.. honestly, the experience sucked and after 40 minutes of waiting I was kind of over it. I decided I wasn't going to let it ruin my day but I very much understand the people that were upset who were yelling and being outspoken. I even looked at the website and confirmed it says nothing about getting there early.. it actually says 'walk ins welcome' :0
All this to say...... the actual show was amazing. the visuals were incredible. I got the best seats in the house (imo) which were the middle booths. Parking was fully validated at customer service. The only problem for me was I wish it was longer (;
I look forward to seeing this place improve with organization, transparency and efficiency. The venue sells itself, but until I see an improvement on the website I will not be going back. Which sucks because I wanted to see their Liquidverse show.
if you really want to come, get here 30 min before your show time. maybe an hour if you really want to guarantee an entrance at your...
