Mama Tried Irving — Restaurant in Irving

I have given this place 3 tries over several months. Each time has been awful. I really like the atmosphere, so I kept coming back, hoping that things would improve. It has gotten progressively worse.

The last time that I was here we waited at an empty bar for 15 minutes, and there were no bartenders in sight. We left and took our business to another bar. This lack of bartenders seems like a big security issue, since alcohol and registers are left unattended for long periods of time. I personally watched several other patrons walk out, because no one took the order for their first drink. I have watched patrons walk out frustrated at my last two visits.

This time we went and managed to order one drink quickly, but that was the last time our bartender paid us any attention. To be fair to her, the bar is massively understaffed and she seemed to have to wear all the hats, while another employee sat at the bar drinking. After an entire 30 minutes of waiting to order a beer I had to walk to the other bar, and waited a few minutes longer there. I asked this other bartender to get me a blue moon and close out the check. She brought us a check, but no beer. I was completely frustrated at this, but did not want to take the staffing issues out on her, so I paid my check and left. I feel like I have completely wasted the only free evening that I get on this place. I will never come back, and will warn people to avoid this place at all costs. I am bitter that I wasted my hard earned money and sparse free time at this bar. The rest of the bars in the toyota music factory is so much better. We sat at the bar and marveled at the interaction between the bartenders and their customers. They know their regulars and greet them accordingly. Fantastic display of how customer service should work and a daily basis.

The music is hit or miss and can be loud on occasion, but it's a great place to have a couple drinks and people watch. We sat at the bar and had a great view of the stage and the pool tables and it was better than going to the flea market on Saturday morning and watching the mullets buy pocket knives and NASCAR merch.

There is construction and a little bit of a walk around the new stage, but never fear...I hear that they are moving shortly into a new venue a couple doors down. Here's hoping that they ditch the current barstools (fixed) as they are a little uncomfortable, but they are spaced just far enough that someone will inevitably try and skootch between you and your date in order to get a beer.

Do not ever come here and do not waste your time. If I could leave 0 stars I would.

I proceeded to walk into the bar, as requested I presented my ID that showed I’m am not a Texas native and over 21 years old, and asked for a large beer. For asking for a large beer I was cursed out by the bartender and then was approached by friends of the bartender and they proceeded to try and engage in physical altercation.

I was told “I don’t know where you are from but, we don’t say large around here” and this proceeded.

I have traveled around the country and the world and I have never experienced anything like this. I will never step foot in this bar again or any affiliate. If management sees this they need to fire this bartender. Also please confirm, is this your culture and business model?
