This place was certainly worth my drive from Baltimore. Bottom line this place is a must to visit!!
The location of this place is perfect right across from the law school but when you get inside its a nice homey feel to it. Ms Glenda has community seating which i love, this lets me converse with the locals. I ordered the po boy which comes in either farm raised catfish or chicken. I let Ms Glenda pick which she chose the catfish. So while i waited i grabbed my Kool aid, yes! There are spots in the south that offer Kool aid as a soft drink which excited me. The Kool aid was made perfectly just like a hot day at a barbecue. Ms Glenda came to the table and chatted my friend and i up which i love and gave us background on the place which made the visit even more special. My po boy came out and i felt like a kid on Christmas lol my first po boy and before u could bite into it, Ms Glenda told someone to bring me their popular comeback sauce which was delicious. I could only finish half and took the rest with me when, Ms Glenda added a slice of honey bun cake to my bag. I got home and later that night i true it and now i'm still wanting more!! This place makes you feel at home. I...

Batter was golden brown, it was almost too pretty to eat. Chicken didn't have way too much seasoning, which paired really well with the waffle. The syrup wasn't overly sweet, the balance in flavors were great, not one thing was fighting for the spotlight, they all wanted to be in the group play together haha. I like my waffles a little bit more crispy on the outside, I'll request that next time. Now, that breakfast biscuit took my breath away, she's a sexy little thing...
Good, fast service. Clean place with lots of seatings indoor and outdoor patio. We weren't sure if we had to pay for meter parking. That buster meter ate my quarter so quick!...at least you know, you don't have to donate your money to that buster...
Read moreI took my mother to Sugar's Place a year ago when I took her to Jackson to see Alan Jackson in Concert. We drove from St. Louis to Jackson and this was definitely one of the highlights to our trip. My mother actually still talks about going back to go to Sugar's Place again. The chicken and waffles were amazing. Great spice in the chicken with waffles that were just sweet enough. The owner of the establishment was very kind to both of us and told us the story of his mother owning the establishment and unfortunately about her getting sick and passing and him taking over. I have never felt so at home in a city I have never been to as when we visited Sugar's place. Hopefully we will be back again...
