We ordered by phone from Angie's Grom on Sunday afternoon and took a leisurely bike ride to the shop to pick up the sandwiches, as we were given a 25 minute time frame. We arrived shortly before 1pm and found a fairly long line waiting to order/pick up food. The person in front of us confirmed that there was not a separate line for call-in orders, so we continued to wait in the line for the register. By the time we got the register, it had been about 40 minutes from time of our order. We paid for our food and were then told it was not ready yet. No big deal--place was crowded. My daughter wondered aloud if this would mess us up, as perhaps they would not be as diligent at calling out names for phone orders as they were for orders at the register. You might guess how this turns out.
We proceeded to wait inside, carefully listening to each name as they were called. A couple times we heard a name that sounded a bit like my daughter's name, but when checking with the staff, it was not our order. After waiting another 10-15 minutes--now well over an hour after our initial phone call--and seeing a number of people who walked in walk out with food, we checked again at the counter. While not overtly rude to my inquiry, the staff was not entirely friendly, either when I asked about our order. As you might guess, about 30 seconds later the gentleman picks up a bag from the counter that has been sitting there for about 20 minutes and hands it to us . While I'm looking with a very disappointed look, the extent of an apology came from a young female behind the counter who whined "We're really busy".
They obviously need a better system to give out phone orders. It seems like they don't call out the names of these when they are ready, so if it is not ready when you show up, the name will never be called. I also hear the original Angie's has a pick up line for phone in orders, though I cannot verify this myself at this time.
This kind of experience is one of the drawbacks of tipping for counter service. I tipped when I paid, yet received really, really poor service. If I had known, I would not have tipped, or at least not 20%. As opposed to tipping for table service, where you tip AFTER the service has been received, in this case we tip before, and then there is zero incentive for the servers to actually do their job well, or, if not well, at least politely.
The food was really...
Read moreAngie's Grom Restaurant is the quintessential local gem where residents flock for fast, delicious, and amazingly priced meals. During my visit, I had the breakfast tacos, the boring plate, and a mimosa pitcher, making for a perfect Sunday morning.
The breakfast tacos were bursting with flavor, with just the right balance of spices and fresh ingredients. They were a delightful start to the meal, setting a high bar for the rest of the dishes. The boring plate, despite its name, was anything but dull. It featured a generous portion of eggs, bacon, and a biscuit, all cooked to perfection. Each component was fresh and satisfying, epitomizing comfort food done right.
The mimosa pitcher was a highlight, offering a refreshing and bubbly complement to the savory dishes. It was generously sized, perfect for sharing, and a great way to enhance the overall dining experience. The atmosphere at Angie's Grom was warm and inviting, with a friendly staff that made us feel right at home.
Overall, Angie's Grom Restaurant is a must-visit for anyone looking to enjoy a fun, delicious breakfast without breaking the bank. It’s the perfect spot to kick off your day and experience the best of...
