Overall, it was good. It is Indian food afterall. That said, it's been a few years since we've been and I think it's gone downhill. It wasn't our favorite this time around. The lights were very bright when we arrived and they weren't dimmed until right before we left (around 9pm) so it felt like we were in a McDonalds or something. The noise level was so high we couldn't have a conversation at our table and hear each other so we gave up and our Valentine's date was spent staring at our phones. We always have a hard time deciding what to order so we love sampler platters but they don't have one. The server didn't seem to knowledgeable about the menu and wasn't too keen on asking the cooks details we needed to know. We were there for nearly two hours and most of it was spent waiting for our server to come to our table. At first we thought it was because they were busy but about an hour into our visit it died down considerably and we still never saw our server. We had to find extra silverware on our own and eventually had to flag down a host or busboy (not sure) to advise that our daughter's meal, which was supposed to be mild, was in fact spicy and she couldn't eat it. He eventually got our server but rather than explain, he just told her "we had a problem with our food." When we did explain, she said looked at the order on her device and confirmed it said mild. We were not doubting that she entered the ordered correctly, we're doubting that it was prepared correctly. Big difference. My wife ended up not getting what she really wanted because the server had no idea what it was and wouldn't ask (the cheese cubes in the green sauce). What we did get was good but it wasn't wow. Next time I think we'll just drive out to Baymeadows instead and go to...

JaxSpice at JaxBeach offered a mixed bag of experiences during our recent dinner. While the service was prompt and the food generally tasty, several oversights and inconsistencies marred the overall enjoyment.
Highlights:
Fast and attentive service: The staff was quick to take orders and address requests, making for a smooth dining experience.
Tasty dishes: The Peppercorn Chicken and Butter Naan were both flavorful and satisfying. We enjoyed the textures and spice levels.
Areas for Improvement:
Missing table essentials: Salt and pepper should be readily available, not require a request.
Tandoori misfires: The lack of salt in the Tandoori chicken marinade and the absence of the customary mint chutney (also lacking salt) were disappointing omissions.
Chettinad confusion: The Chettinad Chicken, a dish known for its distinct spice and peppercorn flavor, instead tasted like a sweet and creamy butter chicken. This suggests either a misstep in preparation or a different dish altogether.
Overall:
JaxSpice has potential, but these oversights detracted from the dining experience. Attention to detail on basic table settings and ensuring dishes reflect their traditional flavors would go a long way in elevating their game. While we enjoyed some aspects of the meal, the inconsistencies leave room for improvement.
Recommendations:
Stock tables with salt and pepper. Ensure proper seasoning and accompaniment for Tandoori chicken. Re-evaluate the Chettinad Chicken recipe or clarify menu description to avoid confusion.
Additional Notes:
Consider mentioning your spice preference when ordering, as they will be able to adjust the heat level to...
Read moreMy experience coming to Jaxspice was very disheartening. I was taking hair back for my birthday with a friend and it was awesome. The food is always great. However, my last experience coming to Jaxspice was not as great as I expected, although when I arrived, I was seated very quickly, I did not feel very welcomed. When greeted by my waiter, it was very rushed and short, even though there wasn’t many people dining that evening, I felt out of place. I felt unwanted, and it was really hard to get a hold of my waiter. He would go to every other table and never come to check on us, and when I would grab the attention of an other waiter, I felt like I was a bother. I watched as my waiter would have a smile on his face at other tables, and ask them how everything was, and treat them so kindly, but when he would get to my table , there was no smile and it was a very short transaction of communication we ordered drinks and one of the drinks did not taste right when trying to tell our waiter about the drink, he took it away and we were charged for it. Anyways it saddens me to say that I don’t feel welcome in Jaxspice anymore , I love the food it was amazing but unfortunately the way the staff treats you is hit or miss I feel like I have to look a certain way to be treated with kindness and respect and if I don’t then service, it will not be what it should be I appreciate the food that was given to me, but the service was the worst service I’ve ever had anywhere I hope that they don’t treat anyone else. The way I was treated when I went to Jaxspice please be kind to your customers and customers if you go to Jaxspice be sure to get the butter chicken...
