Before you hear the downside of this... Our first time here and I feel compelled to express what an amazing experience this was for us. Greeted by the most cheerful, bubbly host. Apologies for not remembering her name, I think it was Ally, Ellie or maybe Parker.? I like how instead of asking our name -she asked what our favorite Halloween costume was. So that when our order was ready to be picked up, for example; they called out "Beetle Juice" How fun and creative is that?! And what a great way to start your morning. We came here for breakfast, we had a foo-foo coffees, a variety of dishes for all of us to share, such as waffles, eggs, bacon, biscuits and a breakfast taco yes, a -breakfast taco -ummm, I never had one of those before. Everything was delicious and the serving sizes were more than enough. The restaurant was clean and so were the restrooms. Now here's the down side... I'm not a fan of tipping when I go to a coffee shop and they take my order and hand me my coffee and tip jars all around the counter and in your face on the tablet that swipes your card-Ugh! But on this day at the Maple Street Biscuit Co. I WANTED TO TIP! -and get this.. No tip jar was present and neither did the tablet ask for a tip when I paid. WTF?! This really bothered me. We left and I had to come back to try to tip the girl that took our order, who provided professional service and was very helpful and brought our food out to us and even asked if we needed anything else. When I returned, I spoke with the manager and he said that is their policy -No tipping. I'm floored! So if I can't tip monetarily, then the least I can do is spread the word about the great customer service (which is so rare these days) and the quality and timeliness of food being prepared and served to us. Thanks for this experience. I hope to return next time I'm...
Read moreLet me tell you about this place. Fantastic. Hands down, delicious. Friendly, welcoming and a place to bring the people you like.
Walking in, first thing in the morning, the place was a little packed. Nothing bad, mind you, just a little busy. I didn't know how the place operated, so when you first walk in, next to the door on the left, there are menus. If you have never been here before, take a moment to look over the menu. There are many options and choices for your hungry tummy.
After you have your selection, get in line along the left wall. The place rooms homey, with the wooden inter, but the register is very modern. On this morning, they were a little busier, and we were asked to wait a moment BUT, at least we were considered and acknowledged.
While waiting to have our order taken, my guest and I had the pleasure of watching the team work. Cooking the fresh made food for their customers. It was a delight to watch all the hustle and bustle. It was very clear who was in charge and the work flow was exciting.
But lets get to the good part. The food. My guest and I ordered two main dishes along with a side order of grits. We went in October, so the theme they had has name our order was our favorite horror movie. I'll admit, getting our order taken, took a minute. But damn, well worth it. It wasn't like the guy was just sitting around playing on his phone while we stood there waiting. He was running around trying to get orders before ours done.
So, please, consider that. Food Taste? Hot, Fresh, Drool worthy. Waking up in the morning and getting your hands on this? Out of this world. Talk about getting out of bed and after eating there, you'll be wanting to get...
Read moreTOTALLY UNSANITARY! !!!!! I saw a young woman wearing black pants and shirt totally covered in flour. She clearly had been wiping her hands on her clothes. Now, how sanitary are her clothes. Does she have a dog, cat sitting on her lap before working. Her but was covered in flour as well. How sanitary are chairs, sofas, buses and car seats? This woman has passed everything on to patrons. Completely disgusting. I did notice another employee making fun of her and she put on an apron.....WAY TOO LATE!!!!!!!!
Top biscuit could have been a hockey puck. Bottom one was hard on bottom and doughy in middle. Couldn't cut biscuits without a knife. Not at all what I was expecting from a restaurant claiming to specialize in biscuits.
Gravy & chicken was tasty. But, my eyes are still sore looking for the gravy.
Fortunately, for this restaurant we are only tourists and our never returning won't effect them.
UPDATE: I find it interesting that an owner believes a simple post to this will offset my negative comments. But, I responded to Alyse's comment to her email and haven't heard a word since. I was willing to provide her with an exact description of what happened in order for her to make changes, but that isn't what she was looking for. Obviously, she only wanted the public to become sympathetic and believe she was truly interested in resolving the issue. Absolutely, not the case... definitely more fluff in her words than...
