I was CRAVING some Thai food so was very excited to head here for dinner. First, let me explain my #1 priority and qualification when eating Thai food is that I am able to get mango sticky rice for dessert. It is delicious and makes me happy and when I get a craving for it I MUST have it!! So, I called to verify that they indeed had mango sticky rice since I did not see it on their online menu. They verified that they did so I threw on my pants and headed over....to disappointment.
I stood at the hostess stand on the ground floor for 5 minutes before the bartender decided to come over and tell me I had to go upstairs to get seated. Numerous other employees passed by me while I was waiting and didn't say anything. They let me stand there like an idiot. A sign could have remedy this situation but since they don't have one they should make an effort to inform people they need to head upstairs. I don't live in Jacksonville, I have never been to this restaurant, how am I supposed to know? Already annoyed.
Our food came out VERY quickly...which you think would be a good thing. But it came out so quickly it almost made me think they had it prepared ahead of time and threw it all together. Worse than that it had virtually NO sauce on it. Just like any other Thai place you get a hefty potion of rice, meant to sop up all the delicious curry juices. What did they think I was going to use my rice for? The 3 tablespoons of sauce had already been absorbed by the potatoes (yes you read that right potatoes) in the dish. My friend and I each asked for more sauce (since we had gotten different heat levels) and they brought us out one dish of who knows which heat level. Our dishes are now at an edible level so we carry on with our meal.
This one is the reason I won't be back. After all this I am thinking well at least I will get my mango sticky rice. NO! When I ordered it I was informed that they were sold out for the night. Excuse me?! It is rice and mango. How do you sell out of that? There are less than 5 ingredients it isn't like I am asking for a pasta dish in your Thai restaurant. I even called ahead to verify you had it! So done at this point!
The only redeeming qualities were that the server was a nice girl (although she ran around like a chicken with her head cut off the whole time) and the ambiance was nice. If you are looking for an Americanized, dry version of Thai food with subpar service this place would be...
Read moreI was looking forward to eating at the San Marco location for days since making plans with my friends last week. I arrived there 5 after 12, they had already been there 10 minutes. After sitting for another 10 minutes with no waiter, one of my friends went inside to find the hostess who informed us you only had one server for the entire restaurant, and this was normal for the restaurant 3 days out of the week. She went ahead and took our order and another 15 minutes later the waiter brought out 2 bowls of soup. At this point I had 20 minutes left for my lunch hour and told the waiter we needed our food and we needed it now, his reply was it was almost ready and he would bring boxes so we could leave once we get the food. Well for being almost ready it didn't come out for another 15 minutes. Finally the hostess brought us our food and the boxes. She then asked if she could bring us our checks, I said that there shouldn't be any checks at this point but to please bring it as I have to leave to get back to work. She brought the check promptly and unfortunately since we were informed there was no manager on duty, that he was in and out as he pleased, we were left with no choice to unload our anger on to the poor hostess. She went inside and called the manager and came back out to tell us she said he would offer us 10% off, if we wanted it. Well on my $9 lunch bill, that was just a slap in the face. We apologized to her, as she was the only one who seemed to be doing her job as we never saw the waiter ever again after he brought the soups, but she needed to know how upset we were at the service we were given. The food was delicious, luckily my boss was kind enough to let me eat at my desk when I returned to the office. This place is in the heart of a very busy business district. So busy you can't even find parking. It was only us and 9 other tables, and now I can see why. This restaurant will not make it if this is the service they are choosing to provide. It is not only showing in the service, but come to find out they had a health department inspection on April 8th where 24 violations were found, 5 of them being high level. I bet the manager wasn't around for that either. A restaurant is nothing without good management. I will not set foot in this...
Read moreI ordered pick-up first time customer, husband went in to get it, he said it was really nice inside and the hostess was nice. Buttttttt, all the food is soooo bland! I LOVE red curry and rarely complain about food I promise! And it’s funny because curry is really hard to mess up lol, but I swear they did it! Theirs tastes like they used a drop of curry and the same for the coconut milk and watered it all down severely. I have store bought red curry paste in my fridge, I added like two big spoonfuls to half of the container me and my man shared, that’s how bland it was and that stuff isn't great either or I wouldn’t of spent the money and made it myself .. lol anyway I do have to say that the chicken itself and the vegetables do seem pretty fresh and cooked decent even though it was just boiled, but again other than that, it was not amazing like it usually is for me. And I know I only ordered a spicy level 2, but every single othertime I get Thai food anywhere else a 2 is SPICY! Put it this way my 5 year old ate the food and HATES spicy! And it sucks cause me and my husband were so looking forward to it, barely order take out, spent almost $50 and it’s just sad food…. We did get the pad thai too, that wasn’t too bad I suppose. Nothing special not much seasoning either. And again the chicken did seem fresh, but cooked almost in a cheap Chinese take-out kind of way, not like the traditional dishes I usually get. We also got the Tom-Kha gai soup and that was pretty good thankfully. Tbh, I usually get Tom-yum, never had this one so I’m not familiar on how it’s supposed to taste ironically the one thing I liked out of all of it. I read a lot of reviews after I tried this food and saw a lot of people in the last few months have had terrible service there, bad food, missing all the seafood and things in dishes, hair and more! Very rude service to customers I hope that’s not true. If it is then get it together your located right in the middle of downtown you’ll be closed down soon if that’s the case and you got terrible food on top of it! There are new owners apparently from what I read. I wish I read more before ordering, was hungry and it was the closest to my house. Lesson learned. I’ll drive the extra 10/20 mins or pay delivery...
