I usually would not take the time to write such a bad review....but today...TODAY they EARNED this bad review. My FIRST plate was jerk chicken, salad, and rice with peas. They didn't have plantain today but they rarely ever had plantain anyway. I asked the female with the nose ring handing me my plate for a dressing for my salad to which she asks "Did you pay extra for dressing?" I said no. Silly me to think it least one dressing comes with the salad. The woman taking the money behind the counter told her to give me a dressing to which someone else handed to me. I took my first plate to my car to eat it and didn't realize the chicken was cold until I tasted it. The jerk chicken came out cold and the extra side of cornbread which is now $2.00 came out like mush. The female didn't show me the cornbread just pushed it in the bag. I go back inside to tell and show them the issues and while I was waiting, the ladies next to me say they called in and still had to wait 20 mins. This was on top of another lady who was upset about the daily soup not being ready at 1:30pm!! She said they didn't have soup yesterday either. (Definitely believable) So after 10 more minutes I am shown my 2nd plate which was the EXACT SAME FOOD FROM THE FIRST PLATE MICROWAVED...COLD SALAD LETTUCE MICROWAVED AND ALL. The female with the nose ring behind the counter has the audacity to say "next time you need to check your food before you leave"😶 Yes, I made sure she indicated that she wanted me to literally put my finger in the food to check to make sure it is the correct temperature before leaving. Rude is an understatement at this place.
This used to be a good establishment...I was a long time customer, since 2011 back before and after they had the stamp card program...even gave them some time (Stopped going for a year) to get their act together when I saw dead roaches on the counter tops and when they failed the health inspection. I give them chance after chance and they still messing up. I no longer will recommend this place for anyone. It is NOT WORTH YOUR HARD EARNED MONEY.
The pics are of the cornbread mush and the second plate with microwaved...
Read moreFantastic!! We hold a special place in our hearts for this place!! It has been about 2 yrs since we were able to eat there again, with the pandemic and everything, but we finally on our 16yr anniversary ❤ got to have a wonderful meal and re-attend, and enjoy and indulge!! Honestly there's nothing here that you won't like/love!! The proportions are more than generous and the flavor is consistent and great. We have had everything from the beef patties, ( which literally came out and sold out immediately) they were gone in seconds and there super good and super affordable! To the oxtails, to the curry chicken, jerk chicken to the Mac NCheese 😋 to the rice to the peas to the cornbread, (my word, the cornbread is phenomenal they have a secret recipe)... I can almost promise you that you have never had the best cornbread until you've had theirs!! Aside from that you get very very large portions!! Only critique is that the sooner you get there the better!!! It goes quickly, and so even though you'd still get something great; the later you wait the more likely what you were after will be sold out for the day. This process of cooking these authentic dishes start very early in the day and have certain times to carryout a certain amount of food so after its cooked and gone and after a certain time that day its gone....
Read moreI won’t be spending another dollar here again. I’ve been supporting this business for years, buying both soup and regular meals, because we’re always told to support our own. But clearly, that support doesn’t go both ways.
I recently had surgery and can only have broth. I walked into a Chinese restaurant I’ve never been to before, explained my situation to the cashier, and she kindly said they could make plain broth for me and even wished me well. When it came time to pay, she charged me less because it was only broth, without me even asking for a discount.
Today, I called Stars to ask if I could buy just broth and whether the price would be adjusted. The person I spoke to said no, it’s the same price, broth or not, so I might as well just get the full food. I explained I couldn’t because of my surgery, and still, there was no consideration. What’s worse is that I’ve called in the past and been told they couldn’t sell the soup because it was only broth.
I’ve accepted what she had said and ordered my daughter’s food, but then I thought, this experience showed me something different. A place I’ve never supported before showed more care and empathy than a business I’ve been loyal to for years. That says everything. From now on, I’ll be spending my...
