Ecklof Bakery & Deli — Restaurant in Jamestown

This review was written when it was fresh in my mind. Things were resolved with a phone call giving Chad 5 stars!...

I walked out of this bakery ... They told me on the phone that I have to come in and talk to a cake decorator. I talked to a young girl and she said they couldn't make a "Alice in Wonderland" top hat because of licensing. I asked, well, what about a top hat cake? She goes ohhhh, and started looking on Google. In the meantime an elderly employee walked over to us and asked what I wanted. I told her a top hat like in "Alice in wonderland." I said I googled some...she bit my head of and said "I don't Google or Pinterest!" Did I ask you that? Lol. I kept my cool, but then the older lady asked how many people? I said, it's not until Dec 3, I don't know, but I'm making cupcakes too. She proceeded to roll her eyes at me!!! She then said, "that's alot of black!" I said, make it purple, or blue, or yellow then. Then the young girl and I decided a cake about 8" circumference and 4 stack high should work. Horrible place to work. The old lady’s that have worked there for years are mean and nasty I had to deal with consistent bullying from coworkers even dealt with cyber bullying showed my boss and he did nothing and the lady who did it is 60 years old! It’s like working with grown children.The owners look the other way. I got laid off after the holidays so they could hire someone who was a temporary hire to be full time. They didn’t give me 2 weeks or severance pay. They do not care about their employees. if your not elderly they expect you to do everyone’s job for them. The pay is trash and they expect you to run the whole store by you’re self witch is almost impossible it’s like doing 3 peoples jobs at once.Also they are not clean! The cases you see all the baked goods in are never cleaned and the back is even worse! So many health hazards! The older lady’s will touch the cookies with bare hands and the back is filthy the floors are only mopped once a week and that’s if your lucky! The men’s room smells like urine Because nobody actually mops the bathroom floors or even the sink.worst part is that the owners don’t care for or respect...

Incredibly Rude: I stopped by this morning to pick up two dozen donuts for my coworkers. When an older woman came out to help me I asked her if the bakery took credit cards and she replied "Yes what do you want?" in a snarky manner. I told her, and she tossed two a dozen donuts into two small boxes, taped the boxes and asked for payment. She took my credit card and began walking away and I asked her where she was going with my card and she didn't answer the first time. The second time I asked she was nearly at another register and she said "I'm going to run your card", again in a rude tone. She ran my card and held onto it tightly until I signed the receipt and she checked my signature. As soon as she returned my card she walked away without saying a word. I walked across the store to the other counter to retrieve my donuts and told her how incredibly rude she was when I was buying things from her store and she flatly replied "Have a nice day." I should have taken a photo of the donuts when I opened the boxes, they were smashed and nearly...
