Taco John's — Restaurant in Jamestown

On Super Bowl Sunday 2024, around 9:30 at night, I decided to try this place on my way to Walmart. I passed it so many times since October, when I moved here.

My God, am I disappointed I didn't stop in sooner!!!!!! I thought this place would be like a certain Taco establishment that is popular on the east coast, something to do with a bell. Wrong. I was completely wrong.

So I roll in off the main road, turn into their lot, navigate behind the building to the drive-through area, and get in line behind 2 other cars. I navigate over to the Google Play Store on my phone. I got anxious about the menu and my personal ability to choose without making the guy behind me mad at a new to me drive up menu. By the time I got to that speaker, I had my rewards app open with my QR Code for rewards ready to go.

I am greeted with "Welcome to Taco John's, my name is Justin, I'll be right with you." I glanced over the menu. I spotted a fish taco, and I despise fish tacos simply out of my belief that tacos are meant to be be made of ground beef or chicken, and whoever brought fish into this was out of line. Justin came back over the speaker, and I said, "Justin, this is my first time at Taco John's, and I want to know what you eat on break while you're working." Without hesitation, he told me it's a steak something or other burrito. I said I'll take one, a fish taco as well, and a diet Mountain Dew. I pulled up, waited like a minute behind the car at the pickup window, pulled forward and waited another minute or so, and received my food, with a smile, from one Justin.

The weight of the bag was the first clue. This was nothing like Taco B___. The smell that filled my car was fresh and had a hint of onion and garlic. As I pulled into my spot in Walmart next door, I could hardly wait. So I pick up the burrito, and this thing is no joke. I took 2 bites and knew I could not pass this place again without stopping for this item. Even if I'm not hungry, I'm getting one for later. It's that good. It's as good as any "Fresco Mexican" trendy named joint on the east coast, if not better. And then there's the fish taco. Crispy, hot fish is cut up and placed inside a warm flour tortilla with a zesty sauce that's just so good. Even the napkins are gently laid in the bag, not shoved in angrily by some disgruntled employee.

God bless the owner and staff of this particular Taco John's, I wish them much success. They deserve it. Unlike the Walmart employees I interacted with tonight. But that's for another review.

I'm a long haul trucker from Canada, I had one of those days where if something could go wrong it would. Day started out with going for fuel, the company card wouldn't work at first but did after 1/2 hour on phone, then I couldn't get my paperwork to come into Canada to print from an email. By the time I got back into Jamestown I was 5 minutes into violation and was done for the day. I walked over to the restaurant and ordered my food....YUP my debit card didn't work (Canadian Card). The two individuals working the counter Steven and Miles said, don't worry about it, we have issues with it. Steven grabs his own wallet and paid for my meal. I had 10 US in my wallet and he refused to take it. 2 tip notch employees. I was embarrassed about the whole situation, but came to realize that there are young individuals who have HUGE HEARTS and we shouldn't paint the "new generation" kids with the same brush. Stopped here on our way home and had a horrible experience. The girl who took our order charged us incorrectly and messed up what she charged us. While we waited for our food, they ran out of beef so gave us chicken tacos instead without telling us. When our food finally arrived, they were messed up and didn’t have the right food brought. When I confronted the girl, she first ignored that I was there, she realized it was her fault but didn’t fix the messed up order or give us correct food items, and we left with half the members of our family not even being able to eat cause their order was wrong. Horrible service and it seemed like the whole place was being ran by high schoolers. I don’t complain much ever, but i’m very disappointed with the customer service and not offering to fix our meal or refund when the errors were on their side and they were made...
