This mom-and-pop Greek bakery has been a local gem since 1969. They serve up some truly amazing and authentic Greek pastries. The spinach pie and baklava were both outstanding and surprisingly affordable. The interior is simple and unpretentious but the love and soul poured into their craft shine through in every bite. Places with this kind of uniquely nostalgic charm are quite rare to come by these days.

great pastries, great owner. Try the Spanokopita (spinach pie). One of the best in town, actually has more spinach, not as much filo dough which is hard to find. And try the almond paste/tangerine jelly cookie , not sure what's inside. Wow, one of the best cookies I've ever had!! You bite into it and are like...... !!! Flavor explosion!

I drove up to Hellas on a recommendation for the “best baklava in the city” and… they were right! Service was casual and helpful too. I got the standard baklava, rolled baklava, melomakarona (honey cookie), and a chocolate eclair. All of them were phenomenal! Please check this place out and savor their craft.

Hellas Pastry Shop is a small family owned bakery that doesn't look like much on the outside. The lights, decor, and signs are all outdated. However, this place has absolutely AMAZING COOKIES. The owners - a very friendly Greek family - have been making and selling cookies since 1950s (they've been in this locations since 1970s). They use old family recipes to make cookies, so you won't find any coloring or preservatives in the products they make. My favorites are cinnamon honey, but also outstanding are almond cookies (with cherries or almond). Their selection is limited, but everything I've tried there is always fresh and incredibly tasty. They only sell pastry products (not even coffee). It's usually husband or the wife working the counter and they are very friendly, easy to talk to, and will box your cookies old school by hand and they even put a bow on it. I highly recommend this place. Giving them 4 out of 5 just because it would be nice if they renovated and if there was a nice area to sit and have coffee with cookies (inside...

Why did I wait so long to try this Lawrence Avenue place out???

Phenomenal. Top tier. Made by skilled people from Southern Greece.

Ate the chocolate baklava roll right there which was fairly priced for the high quality and substantial quantity I got. They have cute little counter seats by the window. And then after being offered a sampling of a delicious sweet bread I was absolutely hooked and got a dozen powdered almond cookies for the gathering I was going to. The best cookies of this type that I've ever had. The kind owners even threw in a gluten free almond paste cookie with a raspberry middle for my GF friend (they do have some gluten free and vegan selections). Had a nice conversation with the chill owners and left with my treasures snuggled in a pretty box. The treats were devoured by all at the gathering. Everybody loved it and I mean loved it.

This bakeshop has been in business for 35 years. They deserve our support. I will most definitely be back for more. I especially want to try a spinach and...

My family has ordered pastries and made random stops to bring sweets home since I was a little girl. I am now 31 years old and I still continue to get my sweets and annual Vasilopita and Tsoureki for New Years and Easter because it truely is the best and nothing compares. NOTHING! The owners and employees are very polite and welcoming. I have forever had a positive experience with good vibes every time I’ve walked in....
