If you haven't been yet, I'd encourage you check this place out. I love the look and feel of this place, and I think it will be a great place to grab some drinks in the neighborhood for years to come. That said, I do take issue with a few things, which I elaborate on below.
I'm torn between giving them either 3 starts or 4, because there is a lot of great stuff about this place, but they are currently lacking in some categories. They are still pretty new, so I'm giving them 3 starts for now because I want to leave them room to grow and earn more stars.
As a neighborhood resident, I'm so happy to see a new restaurant/pub in this location. They have done a great job making the storefront look attractive with a new paint job and murals. The inside is equally charming, and provides a cozy feel.
The dinner menu has some intriguing items, presumably British pub staples, although it is not very accommodating to those with dietary restrictions, which is a bummer. If anyone in your party has dietary restrictions, this place might not be the best option.
All the food we've had so far has been great, although the portion sizes are lacking a bit, especially given the price-point. You'll probably pay a few bucks extra here and get a little bit less food than comparable meals at other local neighborhood restaurants. That said, it definitely won't break the bank either. Honestly, if they just loaded the plates with more fries, I'd call it a fair deal.
I think if they are only trying to be a traditionally-inspired pub, they are doing great (4.5/5 stars), but if they want to be more of a neighborhood spot, it'd be nice if their menu was a little more accommodating to various dietary needs and provided a little more bang for your buck.
All in all, I would recommend this place, especially if you're looking for a fun spot to hang out and...
Read moreI live down the street from this establishment and I actively go out of my way to avoid it. For one, the manager is openly rude and they utilize a waitress who is perpetually frazzled and makes off putting comments to patrons. Five times I gave this place benefit of the doubt, five times I was mistaken. I once overheard the waitress referenced above tell a customer they “had to deal with her attitude,” once when I was seated outside under an umbrella and it very lightly started to drizzle, that same waitress told me “I can’t wait on customers in the rain because I don't want to get wet.” I’ve watched a number of customers leave without ordering because of this waitress. And I have personally watched the manager mock waitstaff. Additionally, the food is subpar, the coffee-based beverages are not worth your money and the cocktails are fine (you can likely make a better one at home). I’m telling you— do NOT waste your hard earned money here and spare yourself the poor treatment you will inevitably receive. This spot does not even deserve 1 star. My advice— go to Beans and Bagels for coffee/breakfast and find another spot for your lunch, dinner and cocktail needs. Until this spot decides to treat people (its own staff included) with kindness and serve a decent cup of coffee— GO ELSEWHERE. The best part about this place is they will give your dog a treat. If you are the owner of The Green Post, I would heed you to make some serious changes. Many of us in the neighborhood...
Read moreI’ve been here twice, and the food is good…but they don’t seem to understand modern reservation technology and a few aspects of basic customer service. They advertised a special NYE dinner, which required a reservation, but when I went in person to inquire, they sent me to the website to make a reservation…which, puzzlingly, didn’t accept reservations. When I tried to call, no answer. When I emailed, no response. I visited twice in person to secure a simple reservation, and nobody seemed to understand what the hell was going on…and, ultimately, I couldn’t get a reservation. Luckily, they don’t generally accept reservations, so if you happen upon this place and score a table, good on you…you’ll be pleased with the food. However, the service is lacking—everyone I’ve interacted with is very nice and well-intentioned, but there’s a general confusion about many things (menu items, tea time, reservations for special events, etc.), and it’s hard to get a clear answer. Maybe they’re still working out the kinks, but the fact that they struggle with some fairly basic restaurant operations doesn’t instill much confidence, and I’m inclined to forego the Green Post for numerous other, better options in the Lincoln...
