A lackluster dining experience where our family did not feel welcome. I took my hungry 4 year old here after a ballet class and watched as several tables that were seated after us received their food. There was no follow up from wait staff to see if we needed anything until I flagged not one, but two people down to inquire about our order and point out that the other parties that were seated after us received their food. There were no apologies about the delay, and I couldn't get anyone to stay long enough to at least ask if they could bring out bread for my child. Attempting to pay for our meal was also an inconvenience, as their card reader was not able to read either of the cards I was trying to pay with. Oddly the one debit card I attempted to pay with worked just fine at the ATM one building over at the train stop. And the second card option I gave them seemed to work just fine the following day when I used it for another purchase. The food was not stellar enough to take my mind off the shortcomings of the...
Read moreI've never written a review before, but only because I've never felt so frustrated by a restaurant. Every time I've gone here with my mother, the same employee has been openly rude and annoyed with her. Which is frustrating, but the prices were good for big meal portions, so we ignored her negativity. But this time I noticed one of the men making pizzas was wearing a tank top. I understand it's hot back by the oven, but I thought it was a little unhygienic for a restaurant. I didn't say anything and left with our take out. Lo and behold, I found a short, thick, black curly hair on my pizza... I'll leave it to you to decide if that was an armpit hair, since there's no way to be certain. But in my opinion, a person shouldnt have to question whether a hair on their pizza came from the cook's arm pit. These are my thoughts, so take them as you will! But between that hair and the disrespectful attitude of the woman we always have to deal with, this restaurant lost my...
Read moreThis place is a hidden gem, even thought it's not that hidden considering it's right next to the Rockewell brown line stop and commuters pass it on the way to and from work every day. Yes, they do have outside seating - so (hungry) people watching is super fun here - you will get envious looks from hordes of starved commuters if you happen to get there on a weekday around 6pm :) Pizza Art Cafe is famous for their thin crisp, wood-burning oven pizza. There are plenty of options to choose from, but I recommend choosing one with house-cured smoked beef. This this type of smoked meet is a Bosnian specialty and it draws on restaurant's owner and chef Jasmin Bekto's homeland (Bosnia). The restaurant is also BYOB with no corkage fee. The dimmed lights inside and red with white polka dots cushions on the chairs outside make the atmosphere of this place perfect for a date night. They do take reservations :) I...
