Do you remember the first time you ate a hot dog? I mean, the first sense impressions which come with pictures in your mind, with the tastes in your mouth, that feeling of warmth in your mouth? I do. I was a little kid, walking from the library on Lincoln with my mom. There was this little old Greek guy, beat-up brown fisherman's hat and floppy mustache, dark eyes, with a hot dog cart. Handed me in a piece of waxed paper, this warm poppy seed hot dog bun, with a steaming fresh hot dog, mustard, green picalilli relish, chopped onions, sliced dill pickle, 🍅 and la pièce de résistance - celery salt. Despite the chill in the air, I was warm - and full. As we started back home with our books, I could still taste it. It was the start of my love affair with Chicago style hot dogs. Dogs with sauerkraut. Dogs with peppers. Vienna beef dogs. Never ketchup . Not exactly the Grail quest but it took me here. Wolfy's, since 1967 on Peterson right off California next to the Citgo station. With that same iconic sign. Wolfy's met my needs exactly. Order at the counter. Get coffee. Plop down in a booth. Close my eyes. Take a bite and that little kid is back smiling away, now wiping the mustard off myself. I bet you never thought a hot dog could be a transcendent experience. It is for me. Sometimes I get creative and ask for sport peppers. Changes the experience but an acceptable variant. That's just perfection. Hot Dog Nirvana. I know there is other stuff available, but for me, it's all about the hot dogs...Thank you, Wolfy's, and the little kid says...

Now, let's talk about the food! The fried chicken sandwich was absolutely delicious. The chicken was perfectly cooked, crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. The flavors were well-balanced, and the sandwich was served with fresh and tasty toppings that complemented it perfectly. I highly recommend trying their fried chicken sandwich; it's a true delight.
The fries at Wolfies are something special. They were served piping hot, crispy on the outside, and fluffy on the inside. They were seasoned to perfection, adding an extra burst of flavor to every bite. I couldn't stop munching on them—they were addictive!

Known for their signature style Chicago style, hot dogs, Chicago style, Italian beef, Many of their signature menu items can be gotten as a combo which comes with fries and a drink. The drink options are sort of limited for fountain drinks, but they do also have a variety of canned drink options and many dessert options. If you like hotdog Italian beef or any of the Chicago style signature dishes, Wolfy’s is a must try but it’s very nostalgic retro Chicago diner theme
It’s kind of funny, funny side story after picking this place. My dad told me that’s actually where our parents met so it was fun little factoid, knowing your parents kind of met at this hotdog stand kind of cool to visit it after the fact without really knowing that detail, When I was younger, I used to walk down to this Wolfie’s all the time when there was a Harley dealership on Western and my father worked there we would go and get lunch for the guys that worked at the Harley dealership. The entire restaurant was very clean, even the bathrooms. It’s unfortunate that they don’t have a...
