My husband wanted to check this place out on fathers day. The atmosphere was pleasant and calm, the bathrooms were clean. The food portions were extremely small we got the large family two chickens with four sides then end up purchasing an additional four sides because of servings were so tiny. And they messed up a few of our sides had to go back up and exchange them out. The flavor of the food was kind of bland and it was just okay. The chicken was good but we have had better locally. The yellow pepper sauce is definitely not Peruvian sauce so don't get it twisted or confused or turned off by their sauce. It is not the same as Peruvian sauce. They put their own twist on it it's not extremely bad but it's not the Peruvian sauce that you would expect. The sangria was not so good (my husband did not even finish it but the margarita was so great (as in very strong!) I had two. 😊.
The two biggest two turn offs for us that will not have us come back was the very small side portions and the yellow pepper sauce. The sauce that every other Peruvian restaurant we been to has is aji amarillo (yellow Peruvian pepper, which we also make at home) sauce that is creamy, spicy and smooth. Peruvians are all about the sauces and it was such a big disappointment to not have that sauce...
Read moreThis is a hidden gem tucked behind the Stonybrook Crossing strip mall. Many wayward travelers have fallen prey to the siren call of a neighboring buffalo wings chain... Don't fall for the same trap! Carali's is superior in every way. My wife and I are both pursuing masters degrees as teachers, so you can imagine what our first criterion for date night is... affordability! Carali's crushes the competition here: when writing this review, they are offering buy 2 1/4 chicken meals get 1 free. So for $15 we treated my mother-in-law to (arguably) the best chicken Louisville has to offer. Yet, the chicken, slow-roasted over charcoal on huge rotisserie rods in front of your eyes, is only the beginning to every trip to Carali's. They also offer a huge range of fresh sides: sweet potato or yucca fries, fresh fruit or salad, steamed broccoli or chauffa rice, how do you decide on only two??!! Then, there are the three Carali's signature sauces! My personal favorite is the creamy cilantro and tomatillo sauce... you may disagree, but you're wrong: this sauce is unparalleled! The manager is super friendly, and the service is prompt. I have eaten here about a dozen times, and it is at the top of our list for places to take visiting family! Go now! You...
Read moreTitle: Disappointing Experience with Dry Chicken
Order take-out and unfortunately, my experience was far from satisfying. I ordered the chicken dish, but to my disappointment, the chicken was incredibly dry. It lacked the juiciness and tenderness that I expect from a well-prepared chicken dish.
The dryness of the chicken greatly affected the overall taste and enjoyment of my meal. Despite the restaurant's ambiance and service, the quality of the food, especially the chicken, fell short of my expectations. I had hoped for a delicious and succulent chicken dish, but instead, I was left with a disappointing culinary experience.
I believe that a key element of any dining experience is the quality of the food served, and unfortunately, in this case, the dry chicken overshadowed any positive aspects of my visit. I hope that the restaurant takes this feedback into consideration and works towards improving the preparation of their dishes to ensure a better dining experience for their customers...
