I’ve heard so many good compliments about this establishment and decided to finally visit with my children. Upon entering the store me and my children received very RUDE service from the cashier at the 501 old York rd location. The store closes at 6pm, we arrived at 5:21pm. The cashier indicated the kitchen was closed and there was no food being served, which was fine as we only wanted to try the bubble teas and the Brown sugar Moo. My oldest daughter told her it’s fine if the kitchen is closed because we would only like to order drinks. This cashier proceeds to roll her eyes and blow out the biggest breath and says “WHAT DO YOU WANT TO ORDER?!” I kindly declined her serving us, gathered my children and left! I do not spend money where I am not respected!! And it’s so disappointing because my younger children even sensed this ladies attitude. I don’t know if it’s because we’re people of color or because we’re Muslim, but we were definitely treated unfairly in this store. I would suggest a professional development day training for all employees and hope this kind of attitude would not happen again with other customers, but as for me and my family, you have one time to disrespect and we no longer support your business At this location I plan on visiting the location in South Philly and hopefully the customer service will be better!
UPDATE (5/31/24)
Google is not allowing me to write a new review, but I wanted to update my review. After getting in contact with the manager of the store, via email, me and my family were invited back to this location.
Our invite back was very positive. The owner did offer to pay for our visit, which is a very kind gesture. I opted to pay, because I have a lot of children with huge taste buds and wanted one of everything. I didn’t see it as fair to put such a balance on him, but thank you again for offering.
GREAT customer service! The food is DELICIOUS. The wings are AMAZING we tried two different flavors. the drinks are VERY tasteful full of many different flavors. All of my children liked the corn dogs a lot, especially the hot Cheetos and Cheeto mozzarella ones. Lastly, we ordered a dozen of assorted donuts. EACH donut was so good. All in all the service was amazing, the atmosphere was really nice. It’s funny thinking about it, but my children were finished their wings and hot dogs before we could even leave the parking lot lol.
My children enjoyed had a good time visiting. We literally took up the entire bench in the store lol. I would like to thank the manager again for reaching out to me. I am glad I gave this location a second chance, and we will definitely be back to visit again and again through out the summer...
Read moreWe've had Mochi Ring Donut twice already and it's only been a week since I learned of their existence - that should tell you everything you need to know right there about how good it was.
My boyfriend has been talking for a while about how he wanted to try this style of corn dog, so when I was looking up stuff for us to do in the area of the Hiway before our movie and I found this place, I said "well, I've figured out what we're doing for food."
When we got there, I was a little overwhelmed to be honest. There's a lot of options - not just on the menu itself but on individual items - and I'm not someone who handles figuring out a ton of options on the fly right at the register. It makes me feel guilty for taking up too much time. For his part, though, the staff member didn't rush me at all and took some time to explain one of the options to me when I got a bit confused. Drinks have a sugar scale where you can ask for 0/30/50/70/100% sugar added to your drink - I had not anticipated that option at all and it threw me for a loop.
I fell in love with the pomegranate lemon tea at first sip. I went with 30% sugar the first time but when we ordered delivery through GrubHub later in the week, I got it with 0%. Tastes vary obviously but personally, I find the tea has a perfectly sweet taste from the fruit alone. The pineapple freeze and the small sip I stole of my boyfriend's coffee were really delicious too.
The corn dogs are great. I really like the options of getting a hotdog, a half/half or a piece of mozzarella as the filling and the different coatings are pretty good. I haven't tried the Cheeto one yet, though, so I can't speak to that. Spicy mayo goes pretty well with both mozzarella and hotdog in my opinion.
We tried the donuts when we got delivery and I really enjoyed them. The presentation is almost whimsical and the flavor is really good. They're not sickeningly sweet like I'm used to donuts being and the variety of unique flavors they come in is so much better than other places I've been. My first one was a coffee donut and it came decorated with a Biscoff cookie, which is probably my favorite cookie. The donut tasted exactly like a cup of coffee. My second one was pineapple. That was my least favorite but it was still pretty tasty - I just didn't think it tasted much like pineapple, so I was a little disappointed. Then my final one was a cinna-choco, which was literally perfect.
We will definitely be going back at some point, hopefully sometime soon and...
Read moreUpdate: Please read my original review for context. I'm updating based on the fact that the owner deeply cares about his restaurant and tries to make things right with the customer. I reached out and was able to get the order corrected. He seemed to be aware of the worker that was giving an attitude to us and another reviewer. Food: The Hot Crunchy Wings were quite good. It has good flavor and kick to it. I'd say the wings are the best thing they have there, food-wise. The mochi donuts were actually the most oiliest mochi donuts I've ever had, but the flavor is good and it doesn't go stale over a few days, which is interesting. I'm updating from 3 stars to 5 stars due to the owner wanting to make things right as a business owner, which I highly respect.
Original review: I'm sharing my experience as someone who patroned twice recently.
Yesterday, 5/23 around 5:15pm, my husband and I checked out this store for the first time. The lady sweeping the floor saw us, threw her broom to the side, and exclaimed that all mochi donuts are gone. None left. We didn't say anything to begin with so I'm like ok.... She's also the cashier btw. Anyway, my husband and I settled on 2 drinks and a corn dog. Seemed like the cashier didn't hear anything we said because she repeated back completely different drinks. We got on the same page eventually but it seemed like she really didn't want to be there.
Corn dogs were okay, but they remind me of American corn dogs. Not sure if they were marketed as Korean corn dogs, but it fell short for me. Aloe in the grapefruit tea drink I ordered tasted processed, like in a chemical way. Other than that, the grapefruit tea was good.
Today, 5/24 around 12pm, my husband wanted to give the Korean fried chicken a try. We ordered the "Hot Crunchy Wings" through GrubHub but got regular unsauced wings, labeled "Original Crispy Wings." So, that fell short for us as well as far as getting the order right. Not sure if the order on GrubHub was mis-advertised but the picture of what I ordered were wings with sauce on it. Unless I'm missing something here, but I do have pictures indicating what I ordered and what I got. However, we made it work though with our own sauces at home.
Interestingly enough, I looked at the reviews after getting the GrubHub order and saw someone else make similar statements about the cashier as it seemed she came a couple minutes after us yesterday. So it seems the worker must've been...
