TLDR: Worst hot coffee I've had in Jersey City, but friendly staff and a nice atmosphere. Get the cold brew or iced coffee; something that can't be burnt.
I don't want this to be all bad so I'll start by saying the bakery window looked good and smelled incredible. I didn't get anything, but if you're into that then give this place a shot.
Went to try this place on a Sunday morning to mix up my usual coffee spots (Bwe, Maggie's Farm). Place is nice and clean, pretty chill, seems like a nice place to study, read, or get some work done outside the house. Staff are generally helpful and friendly.
The coffee however was undrinkable. I got maybe the most expensive thing on the menu, a Jamaican Bleu Mountain pour over at $9. The cup was completely covered in spilled coffee, still dripping when I picked it up. Fine; just means he topped me off and nothing a few napkins can't fix.
Coffee itself was super hot, which was the first flag as pour overs are not meant to be prepared with 100 Celsius water. Took a sip and it tasted like someone blended burnt popcorn in water, basically the grounds were scalded. Really unfortunate as the beans are not cheap. I took a couple sips and just threw the rest away because it was too...

Located in a nook near one of entryways to DVORA luxury rental tower, this coffee shop makes transformational use of foyer space and the mezzanine above it.
Neighborhood Starbucks locations are across from Exchange Place & Newport Path stations, commuter focused, no seating. This Bleu Lounge is bang between these two locations to fill a gap in more ways than one. It's a haunt for those wanting to chill, work outside home in serenity, schmooze, or prefer lighter B'fast fare (sans a diner's hubbub). Takeout is steady, too.
Offerings are similar to that of Starbucks; only more sophisticated, less bitter coffee (a snob's opinion, not mine), spaced out seating, hushed conversations, no Venti / Grande sized cups, sourced bakery confections - flaky & flavorful. On this visit we tried Americano, cappuccino, latte, dulce de leche macchiato; and spinach feta pastry, buttery croissant, almond croissant to go with them. All spot on. Style with substance come at a stiffening price point, which DINK types...
Read moreWhen I first walked in, it took a while before I was greeted. It seemed that the owner had to prompt the host by saying, “We have a customer,” before I was assisted. I would have given a 5-star rating, but the woman who helped me lacked basic customer service skills. When I mentioned that my coffee was bitter, she questioned me repeatedly instead of simply offering to fix it. There was no apology or acknowledgment, which I found irritating.
However, the owner I believe an African American gentleman was extremely kind and attentive. When he heard that my coffee was bitter, he immediately looked into the issue, prepared a new iced coffee for me, and made sure I was satisfied with it. His professionalism and genuine care are the main reasons I would consider returning. Unfortunately, the host’s lack of customer service left a...
