What a great little place! I just came from Rizzo's with my friend who comes from Maryland and we thoroughly enjoyed the food and the service! We made it there just in the nick of time before they ran out of the hot food buffet lunch. We enjoyed broccoli with garlic and hot peppers done to perfection, eggplant parmesan, Lasagna with meatballs, and rice and beans, all served with some of that delicious homemade Italian bread that Rizzo's is famous for. And as if that wasn't enough, we splurged on a few homemade Italian cookies for dessert. They were light, not to sweet, and full of flavor. I love the Old World Italian atmosphere in it's simply designed storefront. Anna and her daughter-in-law Francesca are charming and have the loveliest of accents. We were happy to hear that Rizzo's is now doing a Saturday breakfast buffet. I'm planning on going back for that plus a steaming cup of cappuccino. And for all you Kitchen Cousins fans, Brunelleschi Construction is three buildings down from Rizzo's. I hear they like...
Read moreThe older woman that works here treated my family (mainly my 10 year old son) like garbage because of a Pentacle sweater that I was wearing. Why she would take her offense out on my child is beyond me, but the Pentacles are something that she obviously knows nothing about and made assumptions through her religious indoctrination. She made sure that we were uncomfortable in this establishment as we ate there with only the intentions of respect. She pulled the chair that my child was sitting on away from him as he stood up, and told him not to look at her. We said nothing to her but knew that it was time to leave. Not that this would matter that she lost us as long time customers but we'll obviously never come back as this is what she wants. America is a place where people can FREELY practice their beliefs. This is not a Catholic country. This is a spiritual and Native land first and foremost. Amazing how people tend to forget this with narcissistic religious...
Read moreI will never forget when I stumbled on Rizzo's. I walked in and saw my favorite Italian pastry, the Sfogliatella, sitting near the register. I take a risk saying this publicly because if the secret gets out, there may be none left when I next go!
Rizzo Bakery & Pizza has a full menu. They serve nice, big slices of pizza, which I happily munch like the cookie monster. The whole family seems to be there. The mom, who I heard is 81 years young. The son, who perfectly creates the Sfogliatella, and at least two younger gals. The key is that this is a family business and they treat me like family...even though I am not.
I dig this place and I hope that they survive the pandemic. Check it out.
Oh yeah - if you want a particular type of Italian bread, such as diamond cut with seeds, let them know and they...
