Ordered on Uber eats today from Shadman Restaurant in Jersey City today. Generally I donât give negative feedback but had the worst experience with the establishment. They cancelled my order because I wanted a samosa packed separately. Apparently itâs a modification that they canât accommodate? I called to speak with them to understand why this was the case and why the entire order was cancelled and I was constantly cut off while speaking and told itâs not something they can accommodate. I asked to speak with the manager who was conveniently not there. I asked for the personâs name and he refused to give me his name because it was their âpolicy.â In the end, I was left with no order, no explanation, no name, and no willingness to work with a customer. I understand the whole point of trying to stay positive and not bringing these businesses any negative attention but this was absurd and completely unwarranted. It deserves to be voiced. I will personally never order from this establishment again and would urge everyone else not to as well. I got the managers number from another source and called him (his name is Zahid). He wasnât apologetic or seemed to care at all. What a great establishment that cares for its customers! I wish I could give them 0 stars!
UPDATE: the reply from the restaurant is inaccurate. I did not want the all the âingredientsâ packed separately as that would be an outrageous request. I simply wanted the samosa on the side to avoid having the sauces drench the samosa on the way over to me which would take away from the crunchy texture of fresh samosa in the chaat. This is not outrageous request as every other establishment does this without a back and forth and/or issues of any kind. I wasnât asking you to deconstruct a kebab or deconstruct the samosa itself. For you to say I asked for the âingredientsâ to be packed separately is inaccurate and aimed to further mislead customers. Finally, you can indicate that Zahid is not the manager but when I spoke with him on the phone I specifically asked if he is the manager and he confirmed that he was. Not sure whoâs lying but clearly either you as the establishment or Zahid is. Lying and misleading customers by inaccurately representing what happened is not a recipe for success. I hope you guys do better and learn better...
Read moreI recently had the unfortunate experience of ordering from Shadman, and I must say that it was an absolute disaster from start to finish. Not only was my order never made, but the restaurant also shamelessly refused to refund me the money for the nonexistent meal. I am appalled by the lack of professionalism and basic customer service exhibited by this establishment.
The order was cancelled in the app 5 minutes in due to a technical glitch. Instead of calling me or letting me pick up the food myself, they decided to charge me for the food that was never delivered (and I suspect never prepared in the first place).
Despite their failure to fulfill my order, the most distressing part of this ordeal was the restaurant's response when I requested a refund. It is common sense and a fundamental principle of any service-oriented business to refund customers when a mistake has been made, but Shadman seemed to disregard this basic principle entirely. The management was uncooperative, unapologetic, and shockingly rude. They blatantly refused to acknowledge their mistake or take any responsibility for the inconvenience they caused.
Not only was I left hungry and dissatisfied, but I also had to pay for a meal I never received. It is absolutely unacceptable for any business, let alone a restaurant, to take money from its customers without providing the promised service.
Save yourself the disappointment and frustration by avoiding...
Read moreFirst off, I want people to understand that this is purely a takeaway/to-go place. This is not the restaurant to go to if youâre looking for a welcoming staff, aesthetics or any kind of nice ambiance. The food honestly tastes like those microwaveable Indian dinners. There wasnât much authenticity or flavor. The chicken tikka masala just tasted like plain tomato paste with a dash of turmeric. The achari chicken my bestfriend had was not pickled or spicy the way itâs supposed to be. The palak paneer didnât have much paneer, just purĂ©ed spinach from what I saw. The naans were not very fresh and all these curries are ready-made so they are NOT served hot. They are all served in plastic containers whether you choose to dine-in or not. The staff isnât very welcoming and friendly. They were glaring at our table as if they were waiting for us to leave even though we had a while before closing time. I would just go to Little India unless you actually want microwaved bland...
